Goop-Based Enemies

These foes are direct manifestations of the M Graffiti that plagues Isle Delfino. FLUDD is your primary weapon against them.

Strollin' Stu

  • Description: Small, blob-like creatures that wander aimlessly. They leave a trail of M Graffiti behind them.
  • Locations: Ubiquitous across almost all levels, including Bianco Hills, Ricco Harbor, and Delfino Plaza.
  • Strategy:
    • FLUDD Spray: A single burst of FLUDD's Squirt Nozzle will defeat them instantly.
    • Stomp: You can also jump on them, but this is less efficient if multiple Stus are present.
    • Chain Reaction: Spraying one Strollin' Stu often causes a small splash of water that can defeat nearby Stus, especially useful in groups.
  • Rewards: Defeating Strollin' Stus often clears small patches of M Graffiti, sometimes revealing Blue Coins or 1-Up Mushrooms hidden beneath.

Electro-Strollin' Stu

  • Description: A more dangerous variant of the Strollin' Stu, these electrified blobs will shock Mario on contact. They also leave an electrified trail.
  • Locations: Primarily found in later levels or more challenging areas, such as Sirena Beach and certain Secret Shine Sprite levels.
  • Strategy:
    • FLUDD Spray: Treat them like regular Strollin' Stus. A direct spray from FLUDD will short-circuit and defeat them.
    • Avoid Contact: Do NOT attempt to stomp them or touch their electrified trail, as this will result in damage.
    • Distance is Key: Maintain a safe distance and use FLUDD's range to your advantage.
  • Rewards: Similar to regular Strollin' Stus, they clear M Graffiti and may reveal hidden items.

Plungelos

  • Description: Larger, more aggressive goop creatures that often hide in the ground, emerging to spit projectiles or charge at Mario.
  • Locations: Common in Bianco Hills, Gelato Beach, and Noki Bay.
  • Strategy:
    • Direct Spray: When a Plungelo emerges, spray it continuously with FLUDD. It will swell up and eventually burst.
    • Projectile Dodge: If it spits goop projectiles, dodge them by jumping or side-stepping while continuing to spray.
    • Ground Pound: For Plungelos that charge, a well-timed Ground Pound directly on top of them can also defeat them, but this is riskier.
  • Variations: Some Plungelos are stationary and act as turrets, while others actively pursue Mario. The strategy remains the same.

Mechanical & Aerial Foes

These enemies often require specific FLUDD nozzles or precise platforming to defeat.

Swoopin' Stu

  • Description: Flying, bird-like creatures made of goop that swoop down to attack Mario. They often carry Blue Coins or other items.
  • Locations: Frequently encountered in Ricco Harbor, Pinna Park, and Corona Mountain.
  • Strategy:
    • Hover Nozzle Advantage: Use the Hover Nozzle to gain altitude and spray them from above or as they approach.
    • Rocket Nozzle: The Rocket Nozzle can be used for a quick upward burst to get above them for a downward spray.
    • Timing: Spray them as they dive towards you. A direct hit will cause them to fall and dissipate.
  • Item Retrieval: If a Swoopin' Stu is carrying an item, defeating it will drop the item, usually a Blue Coin. collect it quickly before it despawns.

Mecha-Bowser (Boss)

  • Description: A giant, robotic replica of Bowser, piloted by Bowser Jr. It attacks with fire breath and missile barrages.
  • Location: The climactic boss battle of Pinna Park.
  • Strategy:
    1. Rocket Nozzle Activation: The battle begins on a rollercoaster. You'll need to use the Rocket Nozzle to launch Mario into the air.
    2. Missile Targeting: As you ascend, aim for the red targets on Mecha-Bowser's body. There are multiple targets to hit.
    3. Goop Missiles: Mecha-Bowser will fire goop missiles. Spray these with FLUDD to clear them and prevent damage to your rollercoaster car.
    4. Fire Breath: When Mecha-Bowser uses its fire breath, duck down in the rollercoaster car to avoid it.
    5. Repeat: Continue launching and hitting targets until Mecha-Bowser is defeated. The number of hits required increases with each phase.
  • Rewards: Defeating Mecha-Bowser earns you a crucial Shine Sprite and progresses the main storyline.

Environmental Hazards & Special Foes

These enemies often integrate with the environment or have unique attack patterns.

Spiny

  • Description: Small, red, spiky creatures that are invulnerable to direct stomping. They often appear in groups or are thrown by other enemies.
  • Locations: Frequently found in Bianco Hills (thrown by Petey Piranha), Noki Bay, and Sirena Beach.
  • Strategy:
    • FLUDD Spray: A continuous spray from FLUDD will flip a Spiny onto its back, making it vulnerable.
    • Stomp (Flipped): Once flipped, quickly stomp on it to defeat it.
    • Throw: Mario can pick up a flipped Spiny and throw it at other enemies or into hazards.
    • Avoid Contact: Touching a Spiny while it's upright will cause damage.
  • Tactical Use: Flipped Spinies can be used as projectiles against other enemies, making them surprisingly versatile.

Petey Piranha (Boss)

  • Description: A massive, slobbering Piranha Plant that serves as a recurring boss. It attacks by spitting goop and charging.
  • Locations: First encountered in Bianco Hills, and later in other areas.
  • Strategy (Bianco Hills):
    1. Goop Spray: Petey will spit large goop projectiles. Spray these to clear them and prevent damage.
    2. Mouth Open: Wait for Petey Piranha to open its mouth wide, usually before or after spitting goop.
    3. FLUDD Water: Spray a significant amount of water directly into its open mouth. It will swell up.
    4. Ground Pound: Once swollen, quickly jump onto its belly and perform a Ground Pound.
    5. Repeat: Petey will fly into the air and crash down, creating a shockwave. Dodge the shockwave and repeat the process two more times to defeat him.
  • Rewards: Defeating Petey Piranha yields a Shine Sprite.
