Noki Bay

Welcome to Noki Bay, a serene and mysterious location known for its towering cliffs, ancient ruins, and crystal-clear waters. This area introduces unique challenges, particularly those involving underwater exploration and navigating vertical environments. Be prepared for some tricky platforming and puzzle-solving!

Episode 1: Uncork the Waterfall

Your first task in Noki Bay is to clear the murky water and reveal the hidden waterfall. This requires you to find and activate three switches.

  • First Switch: Upon entering Noki Bay, head straight into the water. You'll see a large, cork-like object submerged near the entrance. Swim down to it and perform a Ground Pound (A + Z) directly on top of it. This will activate the first switch, causing a small geyser to erupt.
  • Second Switch: From the first switch, look towards the tall central rock formation. There's a series of ledges and platforms leading up. Use your FLUDD's Hover Nozzle to reach the higher platforms. Keep an eye out for a small cave opening on the side of the central rock. Inside, you'll find another cork. Ground Pound it to activate the second switch.
  • Third Switch: After activating the second switch, continue climbing the central rock. You'll need to use wall jumps and precise Hover Nozzle bursts to ascend. Eventually, you'll reach a high ledge overlooking the bay. The final cork is located here, near a small pool of water. Ground Pound it to fully uncork the waterfall.

Once all three switches are activated, the water will clear, and a powerful waterfall will begin flowing from the top of the central rock. A Shine Sprite will appear at the base of the waterfall. Collect it to complete the episode.

Episode 2: The Secret of the Shell

This episode involves a race against time and a bit of underwater detective work. A Noki elder will task you with finding a special shell.

  • Talk to the Noki Elder: You'll find the Noki Elder near the entrance to Noki Bay, usually sitting on a small platform. He'll explain the situation and give you a hint about a "glowing shell."
  • Underwater Search: Dive into the now-clear waters of Noki Bay. The glowing shell is located deep underwater, within a hidden cavern. Look for a large, circular opening on the seabed, usually marked by some ancient ruins.
  • Navigating the Cavern: The cavern can be a bit disorienting. Use your FLUDD's Hover Nozzle for propulsion and quick changes in direction. Be mindful of your oxygen meter! Collect any coins you see to replenish your air.
  • Finding the Shell: The glowing shell is typically found at the very end of the cavern, often guarded by a few small enemies or a simple puzzle. Once you locate it, simply swim into it to collect it.
  • Return to the Elder: After collecting the shell, quickly swim back to the surface and return to the Noki Elder. He will reward you with a Shine Sprite.

Episode 3: The Manta Storm

Prepare for a boss battle against a giant, electric Manta Ray. This fight requires quick reflexes and strategic use of your FLUDD.

  • Initiating the Battle: The Manta Storm begins when you approach the large, open area in the center of Noki Bay. A shadowy Manta Ray will emerge from the water.
  • Phase 1: Splitting the Manta: The Manta Ray will initially be a single, large entity. Your goal is to spray it with water using your Squirt Nozzle. Each successful hit will cause it to split into two smaller Manta Rays. Continue spraying until you have many small Manta Rays.
  • Phase 2: Eliminating the Minions: As the Manta Rays split, they will leave behind trails of electric goo that can damage Mario. Avoid these trails! Focus on spraying the smallest Manta Rays to defeat them. They will disappear in a puff of smoke.
  • Final Manta: Keep splitting and eliminating the Manta Rays until only one remains. This final, tiny Manta Ray will be the most agile. Chase it down and spray it with water until it's defeated.

Once the Manta Storm is quelled, a Shine Sprite will appear in the center of the bay. Collect it to complete the episode.

Blue Coin Locations (Noki Bay)

Noki Bay holds 30 Blue Coins. Here are a few notable locations to get you started:

  • Underwater Cave Entrance: Near the entrance to the underwater cavern from Episode 2, look for a Blue Coin hidden behind some seaweed.
  • High Cliff Ledge: On one of the highest ledges of the central rock formation, accessible via wall jumps and Hover Nozzle, you'll find a Blue Coin near a small Noki.
  • Behind the Waterfall: Use your Hover Nozzle to fly behind the main waterfall. There's a hidden alcove with a Blue Coin.
  • Under the Bridge: There's a small stone bridge connecting two platforms. Dive underneath it to find a Blue Coin.
  • Noki Shell Game: Sometimes, a Noki will challenge you to a shell game. Win it to earn a Blue Coin. These Noki appear randomly on various platforms.

Remember to explore every nook and cranny, both above and below the water, to find all the hidden Blue Coins in Noki Bay. Many are found by spraying suspicious-looking walls or objects.
