Objective: Reach the Goal Post.
- Start by heading right. You'll encounter your first Goombas and Koopa Troopas. Practice jumping on them or using a Spin Jump.
- Shortly after, you'll find a '?' block containing a Super Mushroom. Grab it to become Super Mario.
- Continue right. You'll see a yellow pipe. Enter it to find a small underground area with coins.
- Exit the pipe and proceed. You'll soon encounter a block with a Cape Feather. This is your first opportunity to try out flying! Run to gain speed, jump, and hold A to soar.
- Look for the first Dragon Coin above a series of blocks.
- Further right, you'll find a '?' block containing a Yoshi Egg. Hit it to hatch your first Yoshi! Ride him and experiment with his abilities.
- The second Dragon Coin is located shortly after you get Yoshi, above a small pit.
- The third Dragon Coin is above a line of blocks, requiring a well-timed jump or Yoshi's flutter jump.
- The fourth Dragon Coin is near the end, above a small gap.
- The final Dragon Coin is just before the Goal Post, often requiring a jump from Yoshi.
- Hit the Goal Post to complete the level. Aim for the top for 50 bonus stars!
Secret Exit: There is no secret exit in Yoshi's Island 1. This level is purely for introduction.
