The Equipment System allows you to customize your Mii Fighters and other characters with stat-boosting items. While not used in competitive 'For Glory' matches, it's a significant feature for 'For Fun' battles, single-player modes, and Smash Tour. Equipment pieces are categorized by the slot they occupy (Head, Arm, Leg) and provide various stat changes and special effects.

Types of Equipment

  • Stat Boosters: These are the most common type, directly increasing or decreasing your Attack, Defense, or Speed stats. For example, a 'Power Gauntlet' might give +10 Attack, while a 'Lightweight Boots' might give +5 Speed but -3 Defense.
  • Special Effect Equipment: These items grant unique abilities. Examples include:
    • Auto-Heal: Slowly recovers damage over time.
    • First-Strike Advantage: Deal more damage at the first hit of a match.
    • Critical-Hit Chance: A small chance for attacks to deal extra damage.
    • Vampire: Recover a small amount of health when you deal damage.
    • Hyper Smash Attacks: Increases the power of your smash attacks.
    • Improved Air Mobility: Enhances your movement in the air.
  • Trade-off Equipment: Many powerful equipment pieces come with a negative trade-off, such as boosting one stat significantly while lowering another. Carefully consider these trade-offs when building your character.

Obtaining Equipment

Equipment can be obtained through various game modes:

  • Smash Tour: A primary source, often awarded for winning battles or completing turns.
  • Classic Mode: Rewards for completing runs, especially at higher intensities.
  • All-Star Mode: Rewards for completion.
  • Target Blast!: High scores can yield equipment.
  • Trophy Rush: Can sometimes drop equipment.
  • Challenges: Specific challenges reward unique equipment.
  • Shop: Equipment can be purchased from the shop using gold.

Building Your Character

When equipping your character, consider their natural strengths and weaknesses. Do you want to make a slow character faster, or an already powerful character even more devastating? You can equip up to three pieces of equipment (one for each slot). Experiment with different combinations to create a build that perfectly suits your playstyle for casual matches.
