Master Hand is the final boss of Adventure Mode, a giant, sentient hand that commands several powerful attacks. Its attacks are telegraphed, but they hit hard and can launch you off the stage quickly. The key to defeating Master Hand is patience, observation, and precise counter-attacking.
Phases & Attacks:
- Initial Phase: Master Hand will use a combination of basic attacks.
- Finger Laser: Shoots a laser from its index finger. Dodge by moving horizontally.
- Slap: Swipes across the stage. Shield or dodge through it.
- Grab: Attempts to grab you. If caught, mash buttons to escape. This is a high-damage attack.
- Drill: Flies to the top of the screen and drills down. Move away from its shadow.
- Flick: Quickly flicks you horizontally. Can be a powerful KO move at high percentages.
- Slam Attacks: Master Hand will often slam its palm or fingers onto the stage. These create shockwaves or can trap you. Jump over shockwaves.
- Finger Walk: Walks across the stage on its fingers. Stay between its fingers or jump over it.
- Gun Hand: Transforms into a gun and fires projectiles. Reflect if possible, otherwise dodge.
Strategy:
Focus on dodging or shielding Master Hand's attacks and then counter-attacking during its brief recovery animations. Its palm is often vulnerable after a slam. Use your strongest smash attacks when you have an opening. Avoid being grabbed at all costs. Characters with good projectiles can chip away at its health from a distance, while fast characters can get in quick hits and retreat. Maintain stage control and don't get cornered. Patience is key; don't rush in recklessly. Learn the tells for each attack and react accordingly. At higher difficulties, Master Hand's attacks become faster and deal more damage, so precision is even more critical.
