How do I increase my Board's speed and maneuverability?

Your trusty Hoversword is your primary mode of traversal, and enhancing its capabilities is crucial for navigating the vast desert and reaching new areas. Speed and maneuverability are directly tied to the number of Ancient Cores you've collected and activated at a Reclamation Spire.

  • Locating Ancient Cores:
    • Desert Tombs: Many Cores are hidden within the challenging platforming sections of Desert Tombs. Look for glowing blue energy signatures. The Tomb of the Sunken City (located in the eastern dunes, near the Petrified Forest) contains at least three accessible Cores early in the game.
    • Giant Leviathan Remains: Explore the skeletal remains of the colossal Leviathans scattered across the map. Often, a Core can be found nestled within their rib cages or embedded in their skulls. The Great Serpent's Spine, found in the central desert, holds a particularly well-guarded Core.
    • Hidden Oases: Some Cores are protected by environmental puzzles in lush, hidden oases. Keep an eye out for unusual rock formations or shimmering water. The Oasis of Whispering Sands (northwest quadrant) requires a specific sequence of jumps to access its Core.
  • Activating Cores at Reclamation Spires:
    • Once you acquire an Ancient Core, you must bring it to a Reclamation Spire. These towering structures glow with a faint green light and act as your primary upgrade stations.
    • Approach the central pedestal of the Spire and interact with it. You'll see an interface allowing you to slot in your collected Cores. Each activated Core permanently boosts your Hoversword's stats.
    • The first Reclamation Spire is found directly north of the starting area, within the Valley of Echoes.

Where can I find the elusive "Shifting Sands" relic?

The Shifting Sands is a powerful relic that grants you temporary invulnerability, essential for surviving encounters with the larger Sand Worms and navigating hazardous environmental traps. Its location is often a source of frustration for new players, but with the right approach, it's easily obtained.

  • Prerequisites: You will need at least three activated Ancient Cores to reach the area where the Shifting Sands is located. This ensures your Hoversword has enough speed to clear the necessary gaps.
  • Location: The Sunken Temple of Zephyr
    1. Travel to the far western edge of the map, past the treacherous Gale Gorge. You'll know you're in the right area when the sand dunes become significantly steeper and more turbulent.
    2. Look for a massive, partially buried temple structure. Its entrance is often obscured by swirling sandstorms. Use your enhanced Hoversword speed to ride the updrafts and gain elevation.
    3. Navigating the Temple: The Sunken Temple of Zephyr is a vertical maze. You'll need to utilize wall-riding mechanics extensively.
      • Upon entering, take the left path, which leads to a series of crumbling pillars. Perform a precise wall-ride across three consecutive pillars to reach a higher ledge.
      • From this ledge, you'll see a large, rotating gear mechanism. Wait for the gear to align, then boost across to the next platform.
      • The final challenge involves a long, downward slide through a narrow canyon. Maintain your speed and avoid the protruding spikes. At the very bottom, you'll land in a small chamber.
    4. Claiming the Relic: The Shifting Sands relic rests on a pedestal in the center of this chamber, glowing with a golden aura. Simply approach and interact with it to add it to your inventory.

I'm stuck on the "Whispering Dunes" puzzle. How do I activate the ancient gate?

The Whispering Dunes puzzle is a common sticking point, requiring careful observation and understanding of the environment. The ancient gate guarding the path to the Crystal Caverns is activated by aligning three distinct Resonance Crystals.

  • Puzzle Overview: The gate requires three specific Resonance Crystals to be activated in a particular order. Each crystal emits a unique musical tone when struck.
  • Crystal Locations and Activation Sequence:
    1. The Low Hum Crystal:
      • Location: This crystal is found embedded in a large, isolated rock formation directly south of the ancient gate. It's partially covered by sand.
      • Activation: Approach the crystal and use your Echo Strike ability (default 'X' on controller, 'F' on keyboard) to strike it. It will emit a deep, resonant hum.
    2. The Mid-Tone Crystal:
      • Location: Head northeast from the gate, towards the cluster of ancient ruins. The Mid-Tone Crystal is atop the tallest, most intact ruin, requiring a series of precise jumps and wall-rides to reach.
      • Activation: Once you reach it, strike it with your Echo Strike. It will produce a clear, sustained tone.
    3. The High Pitch Crystal:
      • Location: This crystal is the trickiest. It's located within a small, hidden cave accessible only by a narrow crevice on the western side of the Whispering Dunes. Look for a faint shimmering effect on the rock face.
      • Activation: Enter the cave and strike the crystal with your Echo Strike. It will emit a sharp, high-pitched chime.
  • Gate Activation: After striking all three crystals in the correct order (Low Hum, Mid-Tone, High Pitch), return to the ancient gate. A spectral light will emanate from its center, and it will slowly open, granting you access to the Crystal Caverns. If the gate doesn't open, double-check your sequence and ensure each crystal was struck properly.
