Momentum Management & Flow — Sword of the Sea Guide

Momentum and flow are crucial in Sword of the Sea, especially when traversing areas like the Forbidden Valley on a dolphin or using the Water Rail ability. Maintaining speed and hitting objectives efficiently helps restore water and collect Tetra. Understanding movement mechanics is key to smooth progression.

Forbidden Valley Dolphin Riding

In the Forbidden Valley chapter, you'll spend the entire time on the back of a dolphin. Use the A button to jump and X for your Resonate ability. The primary goal is to restore water by activating water orbs or lanterns. As you ride, jump to hit all green crystals to collect Tetra.

  1. At the start, go up the stairs and drop off the ledge into the sand to find the dolphin.
  2. Once mounted, swim forward and activate the lanterns in the sand: a small patch to the left and a larger patch surrounding a tower further ahead.
  3. Follow the path of water and fish up the hill.
  4. Branch off to the left to activate more lanterns.
  5. Continue following the path over the bridge with large statues.
Sacred River Water Rail

In the Sacred River chapter, the Water Rail ability is essential for crossing gaps and navigating. Activate Water Rail by jumping three times in a row when you see a green strip of air.

  1. From the cave, go into the temple and around the corner to the right.
  2. Use Water Rail to cross the gap with the green strip of air.
  3. Go up the stairs on the left side.
  4. Use Water Rail again to float through the hanging gold lanterns.
