Character Progression & Development — Tales of Arise Guide

Developing your characters in Tales of Arise is key to overcoming increasingly difficult challenges. Through leveling up, acquiring skills, mastering titles, and equipping the right gear, you can sificantly enhance your party's combat effectiveness and unlock their full potential. This guide details the various methods of character progression.

Each character in your party has a unique progression path, influenced by their individual strengths and the skills and titles they acquire. Understanding how to best develop each character will allow you to create powerful synergies within your party, making them formidable against the diverse array of enemies and bosses you'll encounter throughout Dahna.

Leveling Up and Stats

Characters gain experience points (EXP) from defeating enemies and completing quests. As they level up, their base stats such as HP, Strength, Defense, and Artes Attack increase. While leveling is a fundamental aspect of progression, it's only one piece of the puzzle.

Skills System

Skills are passive abilities that provide various benefits, from increased damage and defense to improved AG regeneration and resistance to status effects. Skills are unlocked in several ways:

  • Skill Trees: Each character has a unique skill tree that unlocks as they progress. Using specific weapons or mastering certain titles often unlocks new branches or nodes within these trees.
  • Equipment: Some weapons and accessories come with inherent skills that are active as long as the item is equipped.
  • Skill Points (SP): While not explicitly a currency, the acquisition of skills is tied to character progression and mastery.

Prioritize skills that enhance your character's primary role. For Alphen, focus on skills that boost Strength and critical hit rate. For Rinwell, skills that increase Artes Attack and reduce AG costs are beneficial.

Titles and Their Importance

Titles are earned by completing specific challenges, story milestones, or by using certain weapons or Artes repeatedly. Each title provides unique passive bonuses and, crucially, unlocks new Artes for the character.

  • Title Progression: Many titles have multiple levels, requiring you to meet certain conditions (e.g., defeat X enemies with a specific Art) to master them and unlock their full potential.
  • Unlocking Artes: Mastering a title is often the only way to learn powerful new Artes for a character.
  • Strategic Choices: Choose titles that al with your desired playstyle for each character. For example, titles that boost flame damage for Alphen or enhance magic absorption for Rinwell.

Equipment and Gear

Weapons, armor, and accessories play a vital role in character progression:

  • Weapons: Increase Attack Power and often come with unique stats or effects. Always aim for the weapon with the highest Attack Power available for your character.
  • Armor: Boosts Defense and can offer resistances to elemental damage or status effects.
  • Accessories: Provide a wide range of bonuses, from stat increases to unique effects like faster AG regeneration or increased item drop rates.

Regularly visit shops and the blacksmith to craft and upgrade your gear. Pay attention to the stats and effects offered by each piece of equipment.

Party Synergy Through Development

The true strength of your party lies in how well your characters' developed abilities complement each other. For instance:

  • Develop Law to focus on breaking enemy armor, allowing Alphen to deal more critical damage.
  • Equip Shionne with skills that enhance her ranged damage and status ailment application to support the frontline.
  • Ensure Rinwell has skills that boost her magic damage and AG efficiency to effectively counter enemy mages.

By strategically developing each character through skills, titles, and equipment, you'll create a cohesive and powerful party capable of conquering any challenge in Tales of Arise.
