Equipment & Crafting

Equipping your party with the right gear is paramount to success in Tales of Arise. The game features a deep crafting system that allows you to forge powerful weapons and accessories using materials gathered from across the world. Understanding how to acquire these materials and what to craft will sificantly enhance your combat effectiveness and survivability against the formidable enemies you'll face.

The core of equipment management lies in crafting. You'll need to visit Blacksmiths in various towns and settlements to create new gear. The crafting menu will show you the required materials and the stats of the resulting item. Prioritize crafting weapons that offer sificant damage boosts and accessories that provide resistances or stat enhancements relevant to your current challenges.

Materials are obtained through various means:

  • Enemy Drops: Defeated enemies often drop crafting materials specific to their type. For example, beasts might drop 'Beast Mane' or 'Beast Tail', while armored foes could yield 'Demihuman Muscle'.
  • Gathering Spots: Shiny nodes scattered throughout the environment yield ores, herbs, and other crafting components.
  • Fishing: Catching fish provides unique materials that can be used in crafting and cooking.
  • Sub-Quest Rewards: Some side quests offer rare materials as a reward.
  • Treasure Chests: Many chests contain valuable crafting components.

When crafting, pay attention to the 'Reforge' option. This allows you to upgrade existing weapons and accessories, often adding new abilities or sificantly boosting their stats. Reforging requires specific materials and often higher-level crafting recipes, which are typically learned by finding them in the world or completing certain quests.

Beyond weapons and accessories, you can also customize your characters' appearance with costumes and attachments. While these are primarily cosmetic, some attachments can offer minor stat boosts. Ensure you regularly check the Blacksmith to see what new items you can craft as you progress through the game and gather more materials.
