Master Tales of Arise crafting to forge powerful weapons and accessories, enhancing your party's combat against formidable Zeugles and Dahnan lords.

Crafting & Upgrading

In Tales of Arise, mastering the art of crafting and upgrading your gear is paramount to overcoming the challenges presented by Dahnan lords and their formidable Zeugles. This detailed guide will walk you through the nuances of weapon crafting, accessory creation, and the essential steps to enhance your party's combat prowess.

Weapon Crafting: Forging Your Path to Victory

Weapon crafting is your primary method for acquiring stronger armaments for Alphen, Shionne, and the rest of your team. You'll need to visit a blacksmith in any major town to access the crafting menu. The process involves gathering specific materials and a small Gald fee.

Accessing the Blacksmith

  1. Locate the Blacksmith icon (a hammer and anvil) on your map in towns such as Ulzebek (Calaglia Region) or Messia 224 (Cyslodia Region).
  2. Interact with the Blacksmith to open the crafting menu.
  3. Select "Craft Weapons" to view available recipes.

Understanding Weapon Recipes

Each weapon has a unique recipe requiring a combination of monster drops, mining node materials, and Gald. Pay close attention to the required items:

  • Monster Drops: These are obtained by defeating various Zeugles across the different regions. For example, early-game weapons for Alphen might require Stony Fangs from Lesser Boars found in the Iglia Wastes, or Hard Bones from Golems in the Sandinus Ravine.
  • Mining Node Materials: Look for sparkling mineral deposits in dungeons and open-world areas. Interact with them to gather resources like Iron Ore or Copper Ore. These are crucial for many weapon bases. The Zionne Mine Tunnels are an excellent early-game source for these.
  • Gald: The universal currency in Dahna. Earn Gald by defeating enemies, completing quests, and selling unneeded items.

Crafting Strategy

Prioritize crafting new weapons as soon as they become available, especially for your main damage dealers like Alphen and Law. Stronger weapons significantly boost your attack power, making combat encounters more manageable. craft for your support characters like Shionne and Rinwell, as their weapon stats also influence their effectiveness.

Accessory Crafting: Customizing Your Edge

Accessories provide crucial stat boosts and unique passive abilities, allowing you to tailor your party members to specific roles or combat situations. Unlike weapons, accessories are crafted by Kisara at campsites.

Crafting Accessories at Campsites

  1. Set up a camp at any designated campsite location (indicated by a campfire icon on your map).
  2. Speak with Kisara and select "Craft Accessories."
  3. Browse the available accessory recipes.

Accessory Materials

Accessory recipes often require more specialized materials, including:

  • Rare Monster Drops: Certain powerful Zeugles or boss enemies drop unique components needed for high-tier accessories.
  • Rare Mining Materials: Keep an eye out for glowing, rarer mining nodes that yield materials like Astral Ore or Mystic Gemstones.
  • Quest Rewards: Some side quests will reward you with unique crafting components for powerful accessories.

Accessory Enhancement

Once an accessory is crafted, you can further enhance it to increase its potency. This is also done through Kisara at campsites.

  1. Select "Enhance Accessories" from Kisara's menu.
  2. Choose the accessory you wish to enhance.
  3. Each enhancement level requires specific materials, often duplicates of the original crafting materials or more advanced versions.
  4. Enhancing an accessory increases its primary stat bonuses (e.g., Attack, Defense, Elemental Resistance) and can sometimes unlock additional passive effects at higher tiers.

Recommended Early-Game Accessories

Focus on crafting and enhancing accessories that complement your party's strengths. For Alphen, consider accessories that boost Attack or Critical Rate. For Shionne, prioritize those that increase Elemental Attack or Healing Power. Early on, the Defense Ring (requires Iron Ore and Hard Bone) is a solid choice for any character needing more survivability, while the Attack Ring (requires Iron Ore and Stony Fang) is excellent for damage dealers.

Material Gathering: The Foundation of Crafting

Effective material gathering is the cornerstone of a successful crafting strategy. Make it a habit to collect everything you see.

Mining Nodes

  • Appearance: Sparkling rock formations.
  • Locations: Found in almost every explorable area, especially dungeons like the Zionne Mine Tunnels and open fields like the Iglia Wastes.
  • Respawn: Mining nodes respawn after a certain amount of in-game time or after you leave and re-enter an area.

Monster Drops

  • Strategy: Engage every Zeugle you encounter. Even common enemies drop useful materials.
  • Targeting Specific Drops: If you need a particular material, check your enemy compendium to see which Zeugles drop it and where they are located. For instance, if you need Stony Fangs, you'll want to hunt Lesser Boars in Calaglia.
  • Boost Attacks: Using Boost Attacks to finish off enemies can sometimes yield additional or rarer drops.

Merchants

While most crafting materials are found in the field, merchants in towns will occasionally sell common materials. This can be a convenient way to top off your inventory if you're just short of crafting a new piece of gear.

General Crafting Tips

  • Check Recipes Regularly: After every major story beat or when entering a new region, check the Blacksmith and Kisara's accessory crafting options. New, stronger gear often becomes available.
  • Don't Sell All Materials: While Gald is important, avoid selling all your crafting materials, especially rarer ones. You never know when they'll be needed for a powerful new weapon or accessory.
  • Prioritize Main Party: Focus your crafting efforts on the characters you use most frequently in your active party.
  • Explore Thoroughly: Many hidden paths and corners of maps contain valuable mining nodes or rare enemy spawns that drop essential crafting components.
