Understanding Bestiary Entries
Before diving into the individual monsters, let's break down what each entry signifies:
- Monster Name: The official in-game name of the creature.
- HP: The creature's approximate Health Points. This can vary slightly based on difficulty or specific game versions, but provides a good baseline.
- TP: The creature's approximate Technical Points, indicating their magical prowess.
- Weakness: Elemental or attack type weaknesses. Exploiting these is crucial for efficient combat.
- Resistance: Elemental or attack type resistances. Avoid using these, as they will be less effective.
- Locations: Where you can typically find this monster. This includes dungeons, overworld areas, and specific floors or rooms.
- Strategy: Actionable advice on how to best approach combat with this monster, including recommended party setups, spells, and attack patterns to watch out for.
- Item Drops: A list of items this monster may drop upon defeat. Higher drop rates are often associated with specific strategies or luck-enhancing equipment.
Early Game Encounters (Pact of the Spirit Forest & Euclid)
Goblin
- HP: 30-45
- TP: 0
- Weakness: Fire, Slash
- Resistance: None
- Locations: Spirit Forest, Euclid Plains (early areas)
- Strategy: Goblins are your most basic enemies. Cless should focus on standard attacks. Mint can heal if necessary, but conserve TP. Chester's Bow attacks are effective from a distance. Use Cless's Majinken (Demon Fang) for quick damage.
- Item Drops: Apple Gel, Orange Gel, Leather Helm
Wolf
- HP: 40-60
- TP: 0
- Weakness: Ice, Thrust
- Resistance: None
- Locations: Spirit Forest, Euclid Plains (all areas), Mountain Pass
- Strategy: Wolves are faster than Goblins and can sometimes stun. Prioritize them if they target Mint. Cless's Hienrenkyaku (Swallow Dance) can be effective for multiple hits. If you have Arche, Ice Needle works wonders.
- Item Drops: Apple Gel, Fur, Wolf Fang
Ogre
- HP: 120-150
- TP: 0
- Weakness: Fire, Slash
- Resistance: Strike
- Locations: Spirit Forest (deeper areas), Euclid Castle Dungeon
- Strategy: Ogres hit hard but are slow. Keep Cless engaged and use Majinken. Have Mint ready with First Aid. If you have Arche, Fire Ball is highly effective. Try to flank them with Chester to avoid their wide swings.
- Item Drops: Orange Gel, Life Bottle, Iron Gauntlet
Mid-Game Foes (Morlia Mineshaft & Venezia)
Ghoul
- HP: 180-220
- TP: 10-20
- Weakness: Light, Fire
- Resistance: Dark, Ice
- Locations: Morlia Mineshaft (B1-B5), Catacombs
- Strategy: Ghouls can inflict Poison, so have Mint's Antidote or a few Antidote items ready. Their physical attacks are moderate. Cless's Gou Majinken (Demonic Chaos) is good here. Arche's Fire Ball or Eruption will make short work of them.
- Item Drops: Panacea Bottle, Poison Charm, Rotten Meat
Skeleton
- HP: 150-190
- TP: 0
- Weakness: Light, Strike
- Resistance: Slash, Pierce
- Locations: Morlia Mineshaft (B1-B7), Catacombs
- Strategy: Skeletons are resistant to Cless's normal sword attacks. Equip a Mace or use Strike-based skills if available. Arche's Holy Lance (if learned) is devastating. Otherwise, have Cless focus on Majinken or Hienrenkyaku.
- Item Drops: Apple Gel, Bone, Chain Mail
Kraken
- HP: 300-350
- TP: 30-50
- Weakness: Fire, Lightning
- Resistance: Water
- Locations: Venezia Waterways, Morlia Mineshaft (B8-B10, near water)
- Strategy: Krakens are formidable aquatic foes. They can use water-based spells and physical attacks. Cless should use his strongest Fire-elemental weapon if available (e.g., a Flame Sword). Arche's Fire Ball and Thunder Blade are essential. Keep Mint healing consistently.
- Item Drops: Aqua Cape, Mermaid's Tear, Orange Gel
Late Game Threats (Dhaos's Castle & Future)
Evil Lord
- HP: 800-1000
- TP: 80-120
- Weakness: Light, Ice
- Resistance: Dark, Fire
- Locations: Dhaos's Castle (all floors), Treant Forest (Future)
- Strategy: These powerful mages cast high-level dark and fire spells. Prioritize interrupting their spellcasting with Cless's quick attacks like Shishisenkou (Lionheart) or Gou Majinken. Arche should use Ice Tornado or Holy Lance. Klarth's summons like Sylph or Undine are also effective. Equip Dark Charms if possible.
- Item Drops: Mystic Symbol, Dark Seal, Elixir
Dragon Knight
- HP: 950-1100
- TP: 0
- Weakness: Ice, Pierce
- Resistance: Fire, Slash
- Locations: Dhaos's Castle (upper floors), Limestone Cave (Future)
- Strategy: Dragon Knights are heavily armored and deal massive physical damage. They are resistant to Cless's normal attacks. Focus on Pierce-type attacks (Chester's best bows) or Ice magic from Arche (Ice Tornado, Absolute). Cless should use Kogahazan (Tiger Blade) or Shishisenkou for breaking their guard. Keep Mint's healing constant.
- Item Drops: Dragon Tooth, Plate Mail, Rune Bottle
Fenrir
- HP: 1500-1800
- TP: 50-80
- Weakness: Fire, Light
- Resistance: Ice, Dark
- Locations: Jotunheim (Future), Dhaos's Castle (secret areas)
- Strategy: Fenrir is a boss-level regular enemy. It's incredibly fast and can inflict Freeze. Cless needs to be equipped with a Fire-elemental weapon (e.g., Efreet) and use Shishisenkou. Arche's Explosion or Meteor Swarm are devastating. Klarth's Efreet summon is also highly recommended. Be prepared for a long fight and use Life Bottles liberally.
- Item Drops: Freeze Charm, Flare Cape, Rare Guts
