Leveling Up: The majority of Fonic Artes will be learned naturally as your Fonic Arte users (primarily Tear, Jade, and Natalia) gain experience and increase their levels. Keep an eye on the "New Arte Learned" notification after battles.
Story Progression: Certain powerful Fonic Artes are unlocked at key points in the main story. For example, Tear's advanced healing spells or Jade's high-tier attack spells often become available after significant plot events or boss encounters.
Fonic Arte Scrolls: A select few Fonic Artes can only be learned by using specific Fonic Arte Scrolls. These are rare items found in chests, dropped by powerful enemies, or purchased from special vendors.

Example: The "Holy Lance Scroll" for Natalia, which teaches her the powerful Holy Lance Fonic Arte, can be found in a hidden chest within the Absorption Gate after a certain point in the story, or sometimes dropped by rare enemies in the Mt. Roneal area.

Optimizing Fonic Arte Usage

Elemental Weaknesses: Always check enemy weaknesses! Using a Fonic Arte that exploits an enemy's elemental vulnerability (e.g., Fire Fonic Artes against Ice-elemental foes) will deal significantly more damage. Use the "Analyze" Fonic Arte or items like the Magic Lens to reveal enemy stats and weaknesses.
Free Run & Positioning: Fonic Arte users are often squishy. Utilize Free Run to maintain distance from enemies while casting. Position them strategically behind melee attackers like Luke or Guy to minimize incoming damage and avoid interrupting their casting.

Over Limit: During Over Limit, Fonic Arte casting times are drastically reduced, and some spells can be cast instantly. This is the perfect opportunity to unleash your most powerful Fonic Artes or revive fallen allies without interruption.
Field of Fonons (FoF) Changes: Certain Fonic Artes will create a Field of Fonons (FoF) on the battlefield. If another Fonic Arte of the same element is cast within that FoF, it will transform into a more powerful version.

Example: If Jade casts "Splash" (Water) and creates a Water FoF, Tear can then cast "Heal" within that FoF to transform it into "Healing Circle", a more potent healing spell.
Strategy: Coordinate your Fonic Arte users to intentionally create and exploit FoF changes. This requires careful timing and understanding of each character's Fonic Arte properties.

Character-Specific Fonic Arte Tips

Tear Grants: Your primary healer and support Fonic Arte user. Prioritize her healing spells (First Aid, Heal, Nurse, Revitalize) and buffs (Barrier, Resist). Don't underestimate her offensive capabilities with Holy Fonic Artes like Holy Lance and Grand Cross, especially against unholy enemies.
Jade Curtiss: The ultimate offensive Fonic Arte user. Focus on his elemental attack spells (Splash, Eruption, Air Thrust, Stalagmite). His high F.ATK makes him a powerhouse.
