Welcome, aspiring adventurer, to the world of Terca Lumireis! This section delves into the rich narrative and intricate lore of Tales of Vesperia, providing you with context, crucial information, and actionable steps to navigate the unfolding story. Understanding the world and its inhabitants will not only deepen your enjoyment but also aid you in your journey.
The Blastia and the Empire
At the heart of Terca Lumireis's civilization are the Blastia. These ancient artifacts, powered by the mysterious substance Aer, are the lifeblood of the world. They provide everything from light and heat to defensive barriers and even the very air people breathe. The Empire, a powerful and sprawling dominion, controls the majority of Blastia technology and its distribution, leading to a complex social structure and frequent tensions.
Our story begins in the lower quarter of the imperial capital, Zaphias, where former knight Yuri Lowell resides. A broken aqueduct Blastia has caused a water shortage, leading to unrest among the common folk.
Chapter 1: The Stolen Core
Your initial objective is to retrieve the stolen aqueduct core. This seemingly simple task will quickly spiral into a grand adventure, introducing you to key characters and the wider world.
- Starting Point: Yuri's room in the Lower Quarter of Zaphias.
- Objective: Locate the thief and recover the aqueduct core.
- Walkthrough:
- After the opening cutscenes, exit Yuri's room and head to the main square of the Lower Quarter.
- Speak to the various NPCs to gather information about the thief. You'll learn he's a mage named Mordio.
- Head towards the castle district. You'll encounter a guard who won't let you pass.
- Look for a hidden path or an alternative route. There's a small alleyway near the fountain that leads to the sewers.
- Navigate the Sewers of Zaphias. This area is straightforward but contains a few minor enemies like Gatordogs and Green Mages. Use Yuri's basic artes like Azure Edge to deal with them efficiently.
- Item Acquisition: Keep an eye out for treasure chests. You can find a Life Bottle and a few Apple Gels within the sewer labyrinth.
- Emerge from the sewers into the castle's aristocratic quarter.
- Proceed towards the castle gates. You'll witness a scene involving a young noblewoman, Estelle, and learn more about the political climate.
- Continue your pursuit of Mordio. He's eventually cornered in the castle's central plaza.
- Boss Battle: You'll face Zagi, a mysterious and erratic assassin, who intervenes in your pursuit.
- Strategy: Zagi is fast but predictable. Block his attacks and counter with combos. Utilize Destruction Field to break his guard. Keep an eye on your HP and use Apple Gels if necessary.
- After the battle, Mordio escapes, but you'll have a brief encounter with Estelle, who will become a crucial ally.
- Return to the Lower Quarter. The aqueduct core is still missing, but your actions have drawn the attention of the Imperial Knights.
The World of Terca Lumireis
Beyond Zaphias, the world is vast and diverse. You'll soon venture into various regions, each with its own unique challenges and lore:
- Deidon Hold: A fortified outpost guarding the entrance to the wilderness. Here, you'll meet the enigmatic Raven and learn more about the Guilds.
- Quoi Woods: A mystical forest teeming with natural Aer, home to ancient spirits and dangerous monsters. This is where you'll begin to understand the ecological impact of Blastia.
- Halure: A peaceful village known for its giant tree, which is slowly withering due to an imbalance of Aer. This location highlights the delicate balance between nature and Blastia.
- Aspio: The scholarly city, home to the world's greatest mages and researchers. Here, you'll encounter Rita Mordio, a brilliant but eccentric Blastia researcher, and delve deeper into the mysteries of Aer.
- Shaikos Ruins: Ancient ruins filled with forgotten Blastia and dangerous creatures. These ruins often hold clues to the world's past and the true nature of Aer.
- Ehmead Hill: A scenic but treacherous mountain pass that connects various regions. Expect encounters with diverse wildlife and potential ambushes from monsters or even human adversaries.
