Underpass

Welcome to the Underpass! This area can be a bit tricky with its winding paths and hidden treasures, but with this guide, you'll navigate it like a pro. Be prepared for some encounters with various low-level monsters. Focus on efficient combat to conserve your TP and healing items.

Exploration and Item Collection

Upon entering the Underpass, you'll find yourself in a dimly lit, linear corridor. Your primary goal here is to reach the other side while collecting valuable items along the way. Keep your eyes peeled for glowing spots and chests.

  • Initial Path: From the entrance, proceed straight. You'll encounter a few basic enemies like Bat and Green Roper. These shouldn't pose much of a threat, but practice your combos and try to get Over Limit bonuses.
  • First Branch (North): After a short walk, you'll notice a path branching off to the north. Take this path.
  • Dead End Treasure: Follow the northern path to its end. Here, you'll find a chest containing a Life Bottle. This item is crucial for reviving fallen allies, so it's always good to have a few on hand.
  • Return and Continue West: Head back to the main path and continue moving west.
  • Second Branch (South): Soon, you'll come across another branch leading south. This path is slightly longer.
  • Hidden Alcove: Follow the southern path. It will curve around, leading to a small alcove. Here, you'll discover a chest containing 200 Gald. Every bit of Gald helps for purchasing new equipment and items in towns.
  • Back to the Main Route: Retrace your steps back to the main western path.
  • Final Stretch: Continue west. The path will become more straightforward from here. You might encounter a few more enemy groups.
  • Exit Preparation: As you approach the exit, ensure your party's HP and TP are in good standing. There are no immediate boss battles, but it's always wise to be prepared for the next area.

Enemy Encounters and Strategy

The Underpass primarily features low-level enemies. This is a good opportunity to practice new artes and develop your combat strategies.

  • Bats: These flying enemies are quick but have low HP. Focus on aerial attacks or artes that hit multiple targets.
  • Green Ropers: Ropers are ground-based and can inflict minor status ailments. Prioritize taking them out quickly to avoid prolonged engagements.
  • General Tips:
    • Utilize Yuri's Destructive Field to group enemies for efficient damage.
    • Repede's Gale Dog can be effective against single targets.
    • Don't be afraid to use basic healing artes like First Aid if a character's HP drops significantly, especially if you're trying to conserve Life Bottles.
    • Aim for Over Limit whenever possible to unleash powerful Mystic Artes or extend combos.

Once you've collected all the items and navigated the winding paths, you'll reach the exit of the Underpass, leading you to your next destination.
