Ludger's bond with each character is represented by a hidden value that increases through various actions. Maximizing these relationships will significantly enhance your gameplay experience.

Understanding Affinity Levels

While there isn't a direct numerical display for Affinity, you can generally gauge your progress through a character's willingness to engage in optional conversations, the frequency of their special combat lines, and the availability of their Character Episodes. Higher Affinity leads to:

Increased Linked Artes Damage: The stronger your bond, the more potent your Linked Artes become.
Improved Support Skills: Characters will more reliably perform beneficial support actions in battle.
Unique Combat Dialogue: Unlock special banter and reactions during combat.
Character Episodes: Progressing Affinity is a prerequisite for unlocking and advancing each character's personal story quests.

Methods for Increasing Affinity

There are several reliable ways to boost your Affinity with party members. Prioritize these actions to quickly build strong bonds:

1. Character Episodes

The most significant and direct way to increase Affinity is by completing Character Episodes. These are personal story arcs for each party member that become available as you progress through the main story and meet certain Affinity thresholds. Each completed episode provides a substantial boost to that character's Affinity.

Availability: Character Episodes are typically marked on your map with a distinctive icon. They often require you to visit specific locations or speak to certain NPCs.
