Congratulations, adventurer! You've navigated the tumultuous lands of Rieze Maxia and Elympios, confronted the deepest conspiracies, and brought peace (or at least a temporary truce) to both worlds. But the journey doesn't end with the final boss. Tales of Xillia offers a wealth of post-game content designed to test your mastery, uncover hidden lore, and reward you with some of the most powerful equipment and skills in the game. Prepare for challenges that will push your party to their limits!

The EX Dungeon: Land of Canaan

The ultimate test of your party's strength and strategy, the Land of Canaan is a multi-floor dungeon teeming with high-level enemies and formidable bosses. Accessing it is your first step into true post-game content.

• Accessing the Dungeon: After completing the main story, return to Hamil. Speak with the Elder in the central part of the village. He will provide you with the necessary information and open the path to the Land of Canaan, located within the Featherfall Highlands.
• Key Items & Preparation:
  • Gald: You'll need a substantial amount of Gald for equipment upgrades, consumables, and potentially reviving fallen party members.
  • Life Bottles & Apple Gels: Stock up on these. The enemies hit hard, and status effects are common. Consider crafting higher-tier gels like Lemon Gels and Pineapple Gels.
  • All-Divides: For boss battles, these can be invaluable for reducing incoming damage, allowing you to survive powerful Mystic Artes.
  • Equipment: Ensure your party is equipped with their best available weapons, armor, and accessories. Look for gear with high elemental resistances or stat boosts.
  • Food: use the cooking system! Dishes that boost EXP, Gald, or provide combat advantages (e.g., increased attack, defense, or TP regeneration) are highly recommended.
• Dungeon Structure & Strategy:
  • The Land of Canaan consists of several floors, each progressively more difficult. Expect enemies to be Level 80+ on the lower floors, quickly escalating.
  • Exploration: Each floor is a maze. Prioritize finding the warp points to the next floor to avoid unnecessary encounters if you're struggling. However, exploring thoroughly can yield valuable treasure.
  • Enemy Encounters: Many regular enemies here are stronger than some story bosses. Use your best Artes and Link Artes. Focus on exploiting elemental weaknesses and staggering enemies.
  • Boss Battles: Each deeper floor often culminates in a powerful boss. These bosses frequently have high HP, strong defenses, and devastating Mystic Artes.
    • Elemental Weaknesses: Experiment with different elemental Artes. Most bosses have at least one weakness you can exploit.
    • Link Artes: Chain together powerful Link Artes for burst damage. Jude's Snap Pivot and Milla's Spirit Shift are excellent for setting up combos.
    • Mystic Artes: Save your Mystic Artes for when the boss is vulnerable or to interrupt their own powerful attacks.
    • Healers: Ensure Elize and Rowen (if using him as a healer) are well-equipped and have their healing Artes prioritized.
• Rewards: Successfully navigating the Land of Canaan and defeating its ultimate challenges will reward you with:
  • Ultimate Weapons: Materials dropped by bosses can be used to craft the most powerful weapons for each character.
  • High-Tier Accessories: Find accessories with unique and powerful effects.
  • Bonus EXP & Gald: Excellent for grinding levels and accumulating wealth.
  • Title Unlocks: Several challenging titles are tied to completing the EX Dungeon.

Elite Monster Hunts

Scattered across Rieze Maxia and Elympios are a select few "Elite Monsters" – souped-up versions of regular enemies, boasting significantly higher stats, unique attack patterns, and often guarding rare treasures. These are marked on your map with a special icon once discovered.

• Finding Elite Monsters:
  • Many Elite Monsters appear in areas you've already visited during the main story. Revisit dungeons and open-world zones like the Arklund Quicksand, Rusalle Highroad, and Xagut Floodmeadow.
  • Some are tied to specific sub-events or quests that become available post-game. Check the Job Board in various towns for hints.
• Strategies for Elite Monsters:
  • Over-Leveling: While not strictly necessary, being 5-10 levels above the Elite Monster's suggested level can make fights significantly easier.
  • Elemental Diversity: Bring a party with a good mix of elemental Artes to exploit weaknesses.
  • Status Effects: Some Elite Monsters are susceptible to status effects like Poison, Paralysis, or Silence. Experiment with Artes that inflict these.
  • Defensive Play: Many Elite Monsters have devastating area-of-effect attacks. Be prepared to guard, use Link Defenses, or quickly heal.
  • Specific Examples:
    • Greater Demon (Xagut Floodmeadow): A large, powerful demon. Focus on its elemental weakness (often Light or Fire) and be wary of its wide-sweeping attacks.
    • Gigant (Arklund Quicksand): A massive, slow-moving beast with immense HP. Break its armor with physical attacks and then unleash your strongest Artes.
• Rewards: Defeating Elite Monsters often yields rare crafting materials, high-value items for selling, and sometimes unique accessories or weapons. They are also a great source of EXP and Gald.

Character Episodes & Side Quests

The post-game is the perfect time to tie up loose ends and delve deeper into the personal stories of your party members. Many character-specific episodes and side quests only become available after the main story concludes.

• Character Episodes: Look for exclamation marks (!) above characters' heads in towns or at specific locations. These often involve unique battles, heartfelt conversations, and can unlock powerful new Artes or accessories.
  • Milla's Episode: Often involves exploring the spiritual side of Rieze Maxia.
  • Jude's Episode: May focus on his medical research or his relationship with his family.
  • Rowen's Episode: Could delve into his past as a military strategist.
  • Elize's Episode: Often involves Teepo and her emotional growth.
  • Alvin's Episode: Typically resolves lingering issues from his mercenary past.
  • Leia's Episode: Might involve her journalistic pursuits or her personal aspirations.
• Town Quests (Job Board): Revisit every town's Job Board. New, more challenging quests will appear, often requiring you to defeat specific monsters, collect rare items, or deliver goods. These are excellent for earning Gald and unique items.
• Hidden Areas & Secrets: Some areas might have previously inaccessible paths or hidden treasure chests that only become available post-game. Explore every nook and cranny of the world map.

Grade Shop & New Game+

After completing the game, you'll have the option to start a New Game+ using the "Grade Shop." This allows you to carry over various elements from your previous playthrough, making subsequent runs easier or more challenging, depending on your choices.

• Grade Points: These are earned throughout your playthrough by achieving various feats, such as completing battles quickly, performing well in combat, and unlocking titles.
• Recommended Grade Shop Purchases:
  • 2x/5x EXP: Essential for quickly leveling up in subsequent playthroughs.
  • Carry Over Gald: Start rich and buy powerful gear early.
