Skits are short, optional conversations between your party members that provide additional character development, lore, and often humorous insights into their personalities and relationships. They are a staple of the "Tales Of" series and a fantastic way to deepen your immersion in the world of Rieze Maxia.

Activating Skits

Most skits in Tales of Xillia are triggered automatically as you progress through the story or meet certain conditions. When a skit is available, a small circular icon featuring a character's face will appear in the bottom left corner of your screen. To activate the skit:

Press the SELECT button on your controller.
The skit will begin, playing out with character portraits and voice acting.

Important Note: Skits are often location-specific or time-sensitive. If you leave an area or advance the main story too far, you might miss the opportunity to view a particular skit. Always keep an eye out for the icon!

Types of Skits and How to Trigger Them

Story Skits: These are the most common and directly relate to the main plot. They often appear after significant story events, boss battles, or when entering new towns and dungeons. Simply progress through the main quest, and they will pop up naturally.
Character Skits: These focus on individual party members, exploring their backstories, motivations, or reactions to current events. They can be triggered by:
- Adding a new character to your party.
- Reaching certain affection levels with characters (though this is less explicit than in some other "Tales" games).
- Visiting specific locations with particular party members present. For example, returning to Jude's hometown of Fennmont after certain events might trigger skits related to his past.

While many skits are integral to the narrative and hard to miss, a significant number are entirely optional and can be permanently missed if not viewed when available. There is no in-game "Skit Viewer" to re-watch missed skits on your first playthrough, making it crucial to activate them promptly.

For completionists aiming for the "Skit Master" trophy (viewing 80% of all skits), a second playthrough or careful attention to detail is highly recommended. Consider the following strategies:

Save Frequently: Before entering new areas or advancing major plot points, save your game. If you miss a skit, you can reload and try again.
Explore Thoroughly: Don't rush through dungeons or towns. Take your time to explore every nook and cranny, as skits can trigger in unexpected places.
Check After Every Major Event: After every boss fight, story cutscene, or significant character interaction, pause and check for the skit icon before moving on.
