Trophies & Achievements
Welcome, aspiring trophy hunters and achievement connoisseurs! This comprehensive guide will walk you through every step needed to unlock all the accolades in Tales of Xillia. While the original PS3 version presented some challenges with missable content, the Remastered edition has made the journey smoother by marking missable sub-events on your map with an hourglass icon. However, achieving 100% still necessitates a second playthrough with the alternate protagonist.
General Strategies for 100% Completion
- Two Playthroughs are Essential: To experience both unique storylines and unlock character-specific trophies, you must complete the game once as Jude and once as Milla. Plan your first playthrough to focus on collecting as many general trophies as possible, leaving character-specific ones for their respective runs.
- Sub-Event Vigilance: Always keep an eye on your map for the hourglass icon indicating missable sub-events. These often contribute to character development, story progression, and sometimes unlock unique items or titles. Prioritize completing these as soon as they appear.
- Shop Expansion: Maxing out all shops is crucial for several reasons, including access to the best equipment, items for crafting, and a specific trophy. Consistently donate materials and Gald to expand shops in every town you visit. Refer to the "Shop Expansion" section of our main guide for detailed lists of required materials and locations.
- Lilium Orb Mastery: Fully developing each character's Lilium Orb is a long-term goal. Focus on unlocking all skills and artes for each character. This will naturally progress as you gain levels and earn SP.
- Library Completion: Strive to fill out your in-game library. This includes enemy data, item descriptions, and character profiles. Engage in every battle, open every chest, and talk to every NPC to ensure you're not missing entries.
Story Progression Trophies
These trophies are unlocked simply by playing through the main story. You'll earn them naturally on both Jude's and Milla's paths.
- The Journey Begins: Complete the Prologue.
- Escape from Fennmont: Reach the city of Fennmont.
- The Spirit World: Enter the Spirit World for the first time.
- The Lord of Spirits: Confront the Lord of Spirits.
- The Schism: Witness the world-altering event.
- The Final Battle: Defeat the final boss.
- A New Future: Complete the game.
Character-Specific Trophies
These trophies require you to play as a specific character or complete their unique sub-events.
Jude's Path
- Jude's Resolve: Complete Jude's unique storyline. This trophy is earned upon finishing the game with Jude as your chosen protagonist.
- Medical Marvel: Successfully perform 100 Link Artes with Jude and Leia. Focus on linking their artes frequently in combat.
- The Doctor's Orders: Complete all of Jude's personal sub-events. Pay close attention to the hourglass icons on your map when playing as Jude. Many of these involve his medical expertise or past.
Milla's Path
- Milla's Ascension: Complete Milla's unique storyline. This trophy is earned upon finishing the game with Milla as your chosen protagonist.
- Elemental Harmony: Successfully perform 100 Link Artes with Milla and Rowen. Utilize their elemental and spell-based Link Artes often.
- Spirit's Champion: Complete all of Milla's personal sub-events. These often delve into her role as the Lord of Spirits and her connection to the world.
Combat Trophies
These trophies require specific combat feats or a certain number of battles.
- Combo Master: Achieve a 100-hit combo. This is best done against larger, slower enemies or bosses with multiple party members. Utilize artes that hit multiple times and link artes to extend the combo. Equipping accessories that increase combo duration can also help.
- Over Limit Overlord: Activate Over Limit 50 times. Over Limit builds up as you take damage and deal damage. Use it strategically in tough battles.
- Mystic Arte Maestro: Use 100 Mystic Artes. Mystic Artes are powerful special attacks that become available during Over Limit. Equip the "Special" skill from the Lilium Orb to enable their use.
- Flawless Victory: Win 50 battles without taking damage. This is easier in early areas against weak enemies. Consider equipping accessories that boost evasion or using characters with strong defensive artes.
- Monster Slayer: Defeat 1000 enemies. This will come naturally as you progress through the game and grind for levels.
Collection & Exploration Trophies
These trophies involve finding items, completing side content, and exploring the world.
- Treasure Hunter: Open 100 treasure chests. Explore every nook and cranny of dungeons and towns. Many chests are hidden off the main path.
- Item Collector: Obtain 500 unique items. This includes equipment, consumables, materials, and key items. Expand shops, complete sub-events, and defeat various enemies to gather a wide array of items.
- Sub-Event Enthusiast: Complete 80% of all sub-events. As mentioned, the Remastered version marks missable sub-events with an hourglass. Prioritize these! Talk to every NPC in every town after major story beats.
- Shopaholic: Max out all shop levels in one playthrough. This requires significant Gald and material donations. Focus on one shop type at a time (e.g., Weapon Shop, Armor Shop, Item Shop) in each major city.
- The World Traveler: Discover all locations on the world map. Ensure you visit every town, dungeon, and field area. Some areas are only accessible through specific sub-events or later in the game.
Miscellaneous Trophies
- Skits 'n Giggles: View 100 skits. Skits trigger automatically based on story progress, character relationships, and specific locations. Pay attention to the "!" icon on your screen.
- Lilium Orb Grandmaster: Fully complete one character's Lilium Orb. This means unlocking every skill and arte node for a single character. This will likely be one of your main party members.
- The Ultimate Team: Reach maximum affinity with all party members. Affinity increases through Link Artes, linked encounters, and certain dialogue choices.
Remember to save frequently, especially before major story points or when attempting challenging trophies. Good luck, and enjoy your journey through Rieze Maxia and Elympios!
