Welcome, Shepherd! Your journey truly begins here, in the mystical depths of Aroundight Forest. This area serves as your first real test of exploration and combat outside of Elysia. Prepare for winding paths, hidden treasures, and your initial encounters with the malevolence of Malevolence.
Forest Navigation and Objectives
Upon entering Aroundight Forest, your primary goal is to navigate through its dense foliage to reach the next destination. The forest is characterized by its interconnected clearings and narrow trails. Keep a keen eye on your mini-map, as it will be invaluable for tracking your progress and identifying points of interest.
- Follow the Path: From the entrance, proceed generally eastward. The main path is fairly linear for the initial stretch, guiding you deeper into the woods.
- First Clearing: You'll soon arrive at a small clearing. Look for a chest tucked away near some large roots on the northern side. Inside, you'll find a Life Bottle, an essential item for reviving fallen allies.
- Encountering Malevolence: As you venture further, you'll start encountering various forms of Malevolence. These corrupted creatures are your primary adversaries. Practice your combat mechanics here, focusing on elemental weaknesses and Armatization.
- Hidden Trail: After the first major combat encounter, look for a less obvious path branching off to the south. This leads to a small alcove containing another chest. This one holds a Panacea Bottle, useful for curing status ailments.
- River Crossing: You'll eventually reach a small river. There's a natural land bridge or a series of stepping stones to cross. Be mindful of potential ambush points by enemies here.
Key Items and Collectibles
Aroundight Forest is home to several valuable items that will aid you in your early adventures. thoroughly explore each section.
- Chests:
- Life Bottle: Found in the first major clearing, northern side.
- Panacea Bottle: Located in a southern alcove off a hidden trail.
- Apple Gel: Often dropped by enemies or found in breakable environmental objects (bushes, crates).
- Orange Gel: Less common, but can be found in chests or as rare enemy drops.
- Discovery Points: Keep an eye out for glowing spots on the ground or unique environmental features. These are Discovery Points, offering lore and sometimes a small bonus. One notable Discovery Point is a "Giant Ancient Tree" near the center of the forest, providing a small amount of AP.
- Normin: While not immediately available, remember to keep an eye out for Normin. They are hidden throughout the world and offer beneficial boons when found. There is one Normin, Sentry, located in the deeper parts of Aroundight Forest, usually near a large rock formation. Finding him grants you a permanent boost to your equipment's defense.
Combat Strategies
The enemies in Aroundight Forest are generally low-level but can still pose a threat if you're not careful. Focus on understanding elemental weaknesses.
- Common Enemies:
- Goblins: Weak to Fire and Earth. Use Lailah's Fire Artes or Edna's Earth Artes.
- Wolves: Weak to Water and Wind. Mikleo's Water Artes and Dezel's Wind Artes are effective.
- Giant Bees: Weak to Wind. Prioritize them with Wind Artes to prevent them from inflicting poison.
- Armatization: Don't hesitate to Armatize with your Seraphim partners. This significantly boosts your stats and provides access to powerful elemental Artes. Experiment with different Armatizations to see which works best against specific enemy types.
- Healing: Utilize your Apple Gels and Life Bottles as needed. Remember that Sorey can also use healing Artes if Armatized with Mikleo.
Exiting the Forest
Once you've thoroughly explored Aroundight Forest and gathered its treasures, continue following the main path. You'll eventually reach an exit leading to the next area on your journey, Lakehaven Heights. Before leaving, ensure your party is healed and your equipment is in order.
