Episode 5: Shell Shocked
Welcome to Episode 5, "Shell Shocked"! This level takes you through the bustling streets and into the sewers, culminating in a showdown with a classic villain. Be prepared for a mix of close-quarters combat and environmental hazards.
Street Brawl
The episode begins on a busy city street. You'll immediately be swarmed by Foot Soldiers and Rock Soldiers. Focus on crowd control here. use your character's special attacks and super moves to clear groups efficiently.
- First Wave: Standard Foot Soldiers and a few Rock Soldiers. Look out for the Foot Soldiers with boomerangs; they can be annoying from a distance.
- Environmental Hazard: Keep an eye out for the Red Barrels scattered around. Kicking or throwing these into groups of enemies can deal significant damage and stun them, giving you a crucial opening.
- Hidden Item 1 (Pizza): After defeating the initial wave and moving slightly to the right, you'll see a Newspaper Stand. Destroy it to reveal a small Pizza Slice for a quick health boost.
- Second Wave: More Foot Soldiers, including some with swords, and a few Mouser robots will appear. The Mousers are quick but have low health; a single strong attack usually dispatches them.
Continue moving right, dispatching any remaining enemies. You'll soon reach an entrance to the sewers.
Sewer Scramble
Once inside the sewers, the environment changes, and so do some of the enemy types. The narrow corridors can make it harder to avoid attacks, so precise movement and well-timed dodges are key.
- Initial Sewer Encounter: You'll face a mix of Foot Soldiers and a new enemy type: Roadkill Rodneys. These small, wheeled robots can be surprisingly agile. Prioritize taking them out quickly before they overwhelm you.
- Environmental Hazard: Watch out for the Green Pipes along the walls. Some of these will periodically spew out toxic gas. Avoid standing directly in front of them when they're active.
- Hidden Item 2 (Collectable): After the first sewer fight, just before a small drop-off, look for a cracked section of the wall on the left. Attack it to reveal a Secret Collectable (e.g., a Comic Book or Action Figure, depending on your current collection progress).
- Mid-Sewer Ambush: As you proceed, a group of Elite Foot Soldiers (wearing black) will ambush you, accompanied by more Roadkill Rodneys. These Elite Foot Soldiers have more health and hit harder, so focus your attacks on one at a time.
- Health Pickup (Large Pizza): After clearing the Elite Foot Soldier ambush, you'll find a full Large Pizza resting on a discarded crate. This is a vital health pickup before the upcoming mini-boss.
Mini-Boss: Leatherhead's Lair
As you delve deeper, you'll enter a larger sewer chamber. Prepare for a fight against Leatherhead!
Leatherhead Strategy:
- Attacks: Leatherhead has a powerful close-range bite attack and a devastating tail whip that covers a wide arc. He can also perform a charging lunge across the arena.
- Weakness: His attacks are telegraphed. Watch for his wind-up animations. When he rears back, he's about to bite. When he turns his back slightly, a tail whip is coming.
- Tactics:
- Hit and Run: The most effective strategy is to get a few hits in after he finishes an attack, then immediately dodge away.
- Aerial Attacks: Characters with good aerial combos (like Raphael or Michelangelo) can deal damage while staying relatively safe from his ground attacks.
- Super Moves: Don't hesitate to use your Super Moves when he's vulnerable or when you need to clear space.
- Environmental Advantage: There are some Explosive Barrels in the arena. Lure Leatherhead near them and then hit the barrels to stun him and deal extra damage.
- Minions: During the fight, a few Mousers will periodically spawn. Take them out quickly to avoid being overwhelmed, but keep your primary focus on Leatherhead.
Once Leatherhead is defeated, the path forward will open, leading you to the next episode.
