Dealing with High-Badge Players

Strategize against high-Badge 'bosses' in Tetris 99: use 'Attackers' targeting, prioritize quick line clears, and consider focused K.O.s.

High-Badge players (those with 5+ Badges) are the closest thing to 'bosses' in Tetris 99. They send significantly more garbage than other players, making them a major threat, especially in the mid and late game. Your strategy against them needs to be a mix of defense and targeted offense. Firstly, if a high-Badge player is targeting you, immediately switch your targeting to 'Attackers' to send their garbage right back. This can deter them or at least force them to deal with their own attacks. Secondly, prioritize clearing lines quickly to mitigate incoming garbage. Don't try to build complex setups if you're under heavy attack; focus on simple, fast line clears. If you have a good stack and an 'I' Tetrimino, a quick Tetris clear can send a substantial amount of garbage back, especially if you also have a few Badges. Thirdly, if you see a high-Badge player's screen turning red, consider manually targeting them to try and K.O. them. Eliminating a high-threat player can drastically reduce the pressure on you and other remaining players. Be cautious, as these players are often skilled and can recover quickly. The key is to be reactive and decisive.
