Control Points Guide

Control Points are dynamic, contested territories within the open-world of New York City that serve as vital strategic objectives and sources of valuable resources in The Division: Resurgence. Capturing and holding these points is a core gameplay loop, offering players opportunities to gain experience, acquire loot, and disrupt enemy faction activities. Each Control Point is typically defended by a specific faction, such as the Outlaws or the Cleaners, and their strength and composition can vary based on the game's progression and world state.

To capture a Control Point, agents must first assault it, eliminating all hostile combatants within its perimeter. This often involves facing waves of enemies, including standard troopers, elite units, and sometimes even heavily armored special units. Once the initial assault is successful, a reinforcement wave from the defending faction will typically arrive, requiring players to defend the point until reinforcements are no longer a threat. Successfully holding a Control Point provides several benefits. Firstly, it grants a sificant amount of experience points, aiding in player progression. Secondly, it unlocks a nearby supply cache, which can contain valuable gear, crafting materials, and ammunition. Thirdly, captured Control Points provide passive bonuses, such as increased resource generation or intel on nearby enemy patrols, which can be viewed on the world map.

Maintaining control of a Control Point is also crucial. Enemy factions will periodically attempt to retake them, indicated by an alert on the world map. You can choose to respond to these counter-attacks to defend their captured territory. The difficulty of these counter-attacks can scale, so maintaining a well-equipped agent with a balanced build, perhaps utilizing a high-damage weapon like an Assault Rifle and a supportive skill like the Reviver Hive, is essential. Furthermore, upgrading Control Points through the donation of resources can unlock higher tiers of rewards and defensive capabilities, making them even more valuable assets in the ongoing struggle for New York City. Neglecting these points can lead to lost resources and a stronger enemy presence in the surrounding areas.
