Understanding Enemy AI and Behavior
Navigating the urban open-world of New York City in The Division Resurgence means facing several hostile factions, each with distinct AI behaviors and combat doctrines. Understanding these patterns is crucial for survival and efficient mission completion. The Rioters, for example, are often the most basic enemy type. They tend to charge directly at the player, using cover sporadically and relying on sheer numbers. Their primary threat comes from overwhelming You with close-range attacks, often wielding melee weapons or low-caliber firearms.
The Cleaners, on the other hand, exhibit more aggressive and tactical behavior. They frequently employ flamethrowers, forcing players to maintain distance and use cover effectively to avoid sustained damage over time. Cleaners will often attempt to flank players and will deploy incendiary grenades to flush them out of cover. Their elite units, like the Flame Grenadier, can unleash devastating area-of-effect attacks that require immediate evasion. Pay attention to their visual cues; a Cleaner charging with a flamethrower is a clear sal to reposition.
The Rikers present a different challenge, often using cover more effectively than Rioters and employing a mix of assault rifles and submachine guns. They are known for their coordinated assaults, attempting to suppress players while other Rikers advance. Some Rikers may also deploy shock grenades, temporarily disabling player movement and making them vulnerable. When facing Rikers, prioritize taking down their more aggressive flanking units first to break their formation. The Looters, while less organized, can be dangerous due to their unpredictable movements and tendency to use cover dynamically. They often carry several weapons, making it difficult to predict their engagement range.
