Among the most common and rewarding of these are Resource Convoys and Hostage Rescues. These events are desed to appear organically as players traverse the open-world of New York City, providing emergent gameplay moments and valuable rewards.
Resource Convoys are mobile supply lines operated by various factions or friendly groups like the JTF. When encountered, these convoys are typically under attack by hostile elements, such as the Outlaws or the Cleaners. You can choose to engage the attackers, defending the convoy and ensuring its safe passage. Successfully protecting a Resource Convoy often results in a generous reward, which can include a sificant amount of crafting materials, ammunition, or even high-quality gear. The challenge lies in the escort nature of the event; players must not only defeat the attackers but also prevent them from destroying the convoy vehicles. Utilizing cover effectively and prioritizing targets, such as the heavily armored enemies that often lead the assaults, is key to success. A well-placed Sticky Bomb can be devastating against clustered enemies.
Hostage Rescues involve a group of faction members holding innocent civilians captive. Similar to Public Executions, players have the option to intervene. Successfully liberating the hostages requires a swift and decisive engagement with the captors. The difficulty can vary, with some rescues involving a small number of enemies and others presenting a more sificant combat challenge with elite units. The reward for a successful Hostage Rescue typically includes experience points and sometimes intel or a small cache of supplies.
