Enemy & Creature Database

Welcome, Nerevarine, to the definitive guide on the myriad foes that infest the lands of Morrowind. From the common Kwama Forager to the most fearsome Daedra, understanding your enemy is the first step to victory. This database provides detailed strategies, weaknesses, and valuable loot drops to aid you in your journey across Vvardenfell.

Common Blight Creatures

The Blight is a pervasive threat, corrupting both beast and man. These creatures often carry Blight diseases, so always be prepared with a few doses of Cure Blight Potion or a suitable spell.

Ash Ghoul

  • Location: Primarily found in the Ashlands, Red Mountain region, and various Daedric ruins and ancestral tombs.
  • Strategy: Ash Ghouls are melee attackers with a potent Blight attack that can drain your Strength and Endurance. Maintain distance if possible, using ranged attacks (bows, destruction spells). If forced into melee, use weapons with high damage output. Resistances to normal weapons are common among Blight creatures, so enchanted weapons or silver/Daedric weapons are highly recommended.
  • Loot: Often carry valuable Ash Salts, which are excellent for alchemy, and occasionally a random piece of armor or weapon.

Cliff Racer

  • Location: Ubiquitous across Vvardenfell, especially in mountainous regions and along roads.
  • Strategy: While individually weak, Cliff Racers often attack in groups and can be a persistent nuisance. Their primary attack is a dive-bombing melee strike. Ranged attacks are effective, but a strong melee weapon can dispatch them quickly if they get close. Consider using a Levitate spell to gain an advantage, or simply run past them if you're not looking for a fight.
  • Loot: Cliff Racer Plumes, useful for alchemy.

Daedric Foes

Daedra are powerful beings summoned from Oblivion, often guarding ancient artifacts or serving malevolent cults. They are typically resistant to normal weapons and magic, requiring specialized tactics.

Daedroth

  • Location: Found in Daedric shrines, high-level dungeons, and sometimes summoned by powerful mages.
  • Strategy: Daedroth are formidable opponents, possessing strong melee attacks and the ability to cast powerful fire spells. They are immune to normal weapons, so you absolutely need a silver, enchanted, or Daedric weapon to harm them effectively. Resist Fire spells or enchantments are highly beneficial. Try to isolate them and focus your attacks. Paralysis or Silence spells can turn the tide.
  • Loot: Daedroth Hearts (valuable alchemy ingredient), Daedra's Heart (rare, highly valuable), and sometimes Daedric weapons or armor pieces.

Golden Saint

  • Location: Primarily encountered in Daedric shrines, high-level ancestral tombs, and as a summonable creature.
  • Strategy: Golden Saints are exceptionally dangerous. They possess high health, powerful melee attacks, and cast devastating shock spells. They are also immune to normal weapons. Your best bet is to use powerful enchanted weapons, Daedric weapons, or high-level destruction spells. Resist Shock is crucial. Consider using Drain Skill or Weakness to Magicka spells to soften them up. They are often accompanied by other Daedra, so crowd control is vital.
  • Loot: Daedra's Heart, Golden Saint Helmet (rare, valuable), and occasionally other high-tier loot.

Unique & Dangerous Encounters

Some enemies stand out due to their unique nature, challenging combat, or valuable rewards.

Vivec's Ordinators

  • Location: Vivec City, especially if you commit crimes or disrespect the Tribunal Temple.
  • Strategy: Ordinators are heavily armored and highly skilled warriors. They wield powerful Chitin weapons and wear distinctive Indoril armor. Engaging them in direct combat, especially in groups, is extremely dangerous for lower-level characters. Their armor is some of the best in the game, but attempting to acquire it through force will result in every other Ordinator in Vivec attacking you on sight. If you must fight, use hit-and-run tactics, powerful magic, or exploit their relatively slow movement speed.
  • Loot: Indoril Armor pieces (Helmet, Cuirass, Gauntlets, Greaves, Boots, Shield) and Chitin weapons. Be warned: wearing Indoril armor in front of other Ordinators will provoke an attack.

Dagoth Ur

  • Location: Heart of Red Mountain, during the main questline.
  • Strategy: The final confrontation with Dagoth Ur is a multi-stage battle.
    1. First Encounter (Citadel of Dagoth Ur): You'll face Dagoth Ur in his physical form. He is a powerful melee combatant and casts devastating spells. Focus on damaging him until he retreats. Use your best weapons and defensive spells.
    2. Second Encounter (Heart Chamber): This is the true challenge. You must use the tools Sunder and Keening on the Heart of Lorkhan. Equipping Sunder and Keening will cause damage to you, so ensure you have sufficient health regeneration or healing potions.
      • Step 1: Equip Sunder and strike the Heart of Lorkhan.
      • Step 2: Quickly switch to Keening and strike the Heart of Lorkhan.
      • Step 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2 several times until the Heart is destroyed.
Dagoth Ur will continuously attack you during this process. Ignore him as much as possible and focus on the Heart. Levitate potions or spells can help you maneuver around the chamber.
  • Loot: Dagoth Ur himself carries no loot, but destroying the Heart completes the main quest.
