Character Creation & Development

Embarking on your journey in Morrowind begins with character creation, a pivotal step that defines your character's initial strengths, weaknesses, and potential for growth. The choices you make here—race, class, s, and skill selection—will profoundly impact your gameplay experience and how you approach the challenges of Vvardenfell.

1. Race Selection:

Morrowind features several playable races, each with unique starting attribute bonuses and racial abilities. These can sificantly influence your early game and long-term build.

  • Dark Elves (Dunmer): Native to Morrowind, they have resistances to fire and a bonus to Destruction magic.
  • Nords: Hardy warriors with resistance to frost and bonuses to combat skills.
  • Bretons: Known for their magical aptitude, with resistance to magic and bonuses to Mysticism and Conjuration.
  • High Elves (Altmer): Possess high Intelligence and Willpower, with bonuses to magic skills.
  • Wood Elves (Bosmer): Agile and stealthy, with bonuses to Marksman and Sneak.
  • Imperial: Diplomatic and well-rounded, with bonuses to Speechcraft and Mercantile.
  • Redguards: Skilled warriors with high Endurance and Agility, and resistance to poison.
  • Khajiit: Agile and stealthy, with bonuses to Sneak and Short Blade.
  • Argonians: Amphibious creatures with resistance to disease and poison, and bonuses to Hand-to-Hand and Light Armor.
  • Orcs: Strong and resilient, with bonuses to Strength and combat skills.

2. Class Selection:

You can choose from pre-made classes or create a custom class. Classes determine your starting skills and attribute distribution. Pre-made classes offer balanced starting points, while custom classes allow for fine-tuning to your desired playstyle.

3. Births:

Your births grants passive bonuses, such as attribute boosts, Magicka increases, or special abilities. Some ss are more combat-oriented, while others favor magic or stealth.

4. Skills:

You select several Major and Minor skills. Major skills increase faster and are crucial for leveling up efficiently. Minor skills still improve with use but at a slower rate.

Character Development:

After creation, your character develops through experience. Using skills increases their rating. When you level up, you can increase your Attributes. The efficiency of Attribute increases is tied to the number of skills you've improved in related categories. For example, to maximize a Strength increase, you should have raised several Strength-based skills (like Long Blade, Blunt Weapon) since your last level-up.

Consider your desired playstyle: a warrior might focus on Strength, Endurance, and combat skills, while a mage would prioritize Intelligence, Willpower, and magic skills. A stealthy character would benefit from Agility, Speed, and stealth skills.
