Class Selection & Custom Class Creation

Morrowind offers unparalleled freedom in character creation, allowing you to choose from pre-defined classes or craft your own unique specialization. This system is fundamental to your character's development, influencing starting skills, attributes, and favored playstyles. Whether you opt for a classic archetype or des a custom class, your initial choices will sificantly shape your journey through Vvardenfell.

When creating a character, you'll first select a race, which provides inherent bonuses and resistances. Following this, you choose a class. Morrowind features several pre-set classes like Warrior, Mage, and Thief, each with a distinct set of favored skills and attributes. For example, a Warrior class might prioritize Strength and Endurance, with skills like Blade, Blunt, and Heavy Armor.

However, the true depth of Morrowind's character system lies in its custom class creation. Here, you can select your own favored attributes and skills, tailoring your character precisely to your desired playstyle. You can choose up to seven major and three minor skills, and ass points to attributes like Strength, Intelligence, Willpower, Agility, Speed, Endurance, Personality, and Luck. This allows for highly specialized characters, such as a stealthy spellsword or a heavily armored mage. The choices you make here will determine your starting skill levels and influence how quickly you progress in those skills as you play.

Key Character Creation Elements:

  • Race Selection: Determines starting stats, skills, and resistances (e.g., Dunmer, Nord, Imperial).

  • Attributes: Strength, Intelligence, Willpower, Agility, Speed, Endurance, Personality, Luck.
  • Skills: Major and Minor skills that determine your character's proficiencies.
  • Births: Provides passive bonuses or active abilities.
