Minor Factions & Groups
Beyond the major powers like the Great Houses and Imperial Guilds, Morrowind is home to several smaller, specialized factions and groups that offer unique questlines and gameplay experiences. These organizations often operate in the shadows or cater to specific interests, providing opportunities for characters who seek a different path or a more specialized role within Vvardenfell's society.
The Thieves Guild, though not as prominent as in some other Elder Scrolls titles, offers a path for those who prefer to operate outside the law. Their quests typically involve burglary, smuggling, and acquiring items through less-than-legal means. Success within the Thieves Guild often relies on stealth, lockpicking, and a silver tongue.
The Dark Brotherhood, a shadowy organization of assassins, is also present, though their questline is more limited in the base game. For those who embrace the life of a killer, the Dark Brotherhood offers contracts on various targets, requiring skill in stealth and combat to complete successfully.
The Blades, the Emperor's secret service, play a crucial role in the main questline, with characters like Caius Cosades serving as key contacts. While not a faction you can formally join in the same way as others, aling with the Blades offers access to critical information and missions that shape the fate of Morrowind.
The Ashlander Tribes, while not a single unified faction, represent a sificant cultural and political force. Each tribe – Urshilaku, Malabi, Hlerim, and Zainab – has its own customs, leaders, and unique quests, often revolving around ancient traditions, prophecies, and survival in the harsh Vvardenfell wilderness. Interacting with them offers insight into Morrowind's indigenous culture.
Other smaller groups, such as the Society of the Twisted Heart or various cults, may appear in specific quests or locations, offering unique challenges and lore. These groups often represent fringe elements or hidden agendas within Morrowind's complex society.
Engaging with these minor factions can provide valuable rewards, unique skills, and a deeper understanding of the diverse inhabitants and hidden corners of Vvardenfell.
