Quest Rewards

Acquire powerful gear and gold in Morrowind by completing quests for unique rewards like Chrysamere, Mentor's Ring, and faction strongholds.

Quest Rewards

Beyond the satisfaction of a job well done, many quests in Morrowind offer tangible rewards that can significantly aid your journey across Vvardenfell. These rewards range from valuable gold and powerful artifacts to unique spells and even faction advancements. Knowing which quests yield the most beneficial returns can help you prioritize your adventuring.

Notable Early-Game Rewards

Securing strong equipment and resources early on can make a world of difference. Here are a few quests to tackle as soon as you're able:

  • Fargoth's Ring (Seyda Neen): This is one of the very first quests you'll encounter. Speak to Arrille at Arrille's Tradehouse in Seyda Neen. He'll ask you to retrieve Fargoth's Ring from the stump behind the tradehouse. Return it to Fargoth, then speak to Hrisskar Flat-Foot in the tradehouse. He'll reward you with 100 gold for your "help" in retrieving the ring. While not an artifact, 100 gold is a substantial sum for a fresh-faced outlander.
  • The Limeware Platter (Balmora, Fighters Guild): Speak to Eydis Fire-Eye at the Balmora Fighters Guild. She'll task you with retrieving a Limeware Platter from Drarayne Thelas's house in Balmora. The platter is on a shelf upstairs. Return it to Eydis for 50 gold and a minor reputation boost with the Fighters Guild. This quest is quick and easy, offering a decent early cash injection.
  • Retrieve the Dwemer Coherer (Balmora, Mages Guild): Speak to Ranis Athrys at the Balmora Mages Guild. She wants you to retrieve a Dwemer Coherer from the Dwemer ruin of Arkngthand, located east of Balmora. Be prepared for some Dwemer automatons. The Coherer is found on a table in the lower levels. Returning it earns you 100 gold and a significant reputation boost with the Mages Guild, paving the way for better spells and services.

Powerful Artifacts and Unique Items

Morrowind is renowned for its legendary artifacts. Many are tied to intricate questlines:

  • Chrysamere (Vivec, Temple): This powerful two-handed claymore is a reward for completing the quest "The Pilgrim's Path" for the Tribunal Temple. You'll need to visit several shrines across Vvardenfell. The final shrine is the Shrine of the Stop in the Molag Amur region, where you'll face a powerful Dremora Lord. Chrysamere boasts high damage, a Fire Damage enchantment, and a Resist Fire effect, making it invaluable against many foes.
  • Daedric Crescent (Tel Fyr, Divayth Fyr): This unique Daedric longsword is obtained during the main questline, specifically after retrieving the Dwemer artifacts for Divayth Fyr in Tel Fyr. While you cannot keep it permanently, you can acquire it temporarily and use its powerful paralyze and damage enchantments. To keep it, you'll need to exploit a specific glitch involving dropping it before the quest update, or use the console command player->additem "daedric crescent" 1.
  • Mentor's Ring (Gnisis, Arvs-Drelen): This ring, offering Fortify Intelligence and Fortify Willpower, is found during the quest "The Code Book" for the Imperial Legion in Gnisis. Speak to General Darius in the Gnisis Fort. He'll send you to retrieve a code book from the rogue agent, Somutis Vunnis, in the nearby cave of Arvs-Drelen. The ring is on a skeleton near Somutis. It's an excellent early-game enchantment for mages.

Faction-Specific Rewards

Advancing through the ranks of various factions often unlocks access to unique services, powerful items, and even strongholds:

  • House Hlaalu Stronghold (Rethan Manor): By completing quests for House Hlaalu, you'll eventually be granted your own stronghold, Rethan Manor, located southwest of Balmora. This comes with a steward, guards, and a secure place to store your loot. The final strongholds for House Redoran (Bal Isra) and House Telvanni (Tel Uvirith) offer similar benefits, tailored to their respective architectural styles.
  • Arch-Mage Robes (Vivec, Mages Guild): Upon becoming Arch-Mage of the Mages Guild, you will be rewarded with the Arch-Mage's Robe and the Arch-Mage's Shoes. These items offer significant enchantments, including Fortify Magicka, Resist Magicka, and Resist Common Disease, making them essential for any serious spellcaster.
  • Grandmaster's Armor (Vivec, Fighters Guild): Reaching the rank of Grandmaster in the Fighters Guild grants you access to a full set of Grandmaster's Armor, typically found in the Guild of Fighters in Vivec. This is a high-quality, heavy armor set, perfect for warriors who have proven their mettle.

Strategic Considerations

  • Timing is Key: Some quest rewards scale with your level, while others are fixed. Researching specific quest rewards can help you decide if it's better to complete a quest immediately or save it for later when you can maximize the benefits.
  • Reputation Matters: Many quests offer reputation gains with specific factions. A higher reputation can unlock new quests, better prices from merchants, and access to more powerful trainers.
  • Enchantment Potential: Even seemingly mundane items can be valuable if they have strong enchantments or are rare ingredients for custom enchantments. Always check an item's properties before selling it off.
