Umaril the Unfeathered is the primary antagonist of the Knights of the Nine DLC. He is an ancient Ayleid sorcerer-king, a powerful warrior, and a master of magic. You will face him in two distinct forms: his physical form and his spirit form. This is one of the most challenging boss encounters in the game.

Phase 1: Physical Form (Garlas Malatar)
- Holy Weapons: You MUST be equipped with the Crusader's Relics (armor and weapons) to damage Umaril. Without them, your attacks will be ineffective.
- Magic & Melee: Umaril uses both powerful shock spells and a large sword. Maintain distance if you're a mage, or close in if you're a warrior.
- Resist Shock: Equip items with Shock Resistance or cast Resist Shock spells.
- Healing: Bring plenty of healing potions and use Restoration spells.
Phase 2: Spirit Form (Aetherius)
- Divine Intervention: After defeating his physical form, you'll be transported to Aetherius. You must have cast the Blessing of Talos (obtained from the Prophet) to be able to follow him.
- Soul Damage: Umaril's spirit form can only be damaged by the divine power imbued in the Crusader's Relics. Continue to use the Relics.
- Flight: Umaril will fly around, making him difficult to hit for melee characters. Use ranged attacks (bows, Destruction spells) if possible.
- Persistence: This phase is a test of endurance. Keep attacking and healing until he is defeated.
Weaknesses: Only vulnerable to the Crusader's Relics. Rewards: The final defeat of Umaril, the ability to summon the Divine Crusader armor, and the completion of the Knights of the Nine questline.
