Your journey begins with a pivotal decision: creating your character. This involves choosing your Race, Class, and Births, each profoundly impacting your starting attributes, skills, and passive abilities. There are ten playable races, each with unique racial abilities and skill bonuses. For example, a Nord excels in combat, while a High Elf is a natural mage. Consider your preferred playstyle when selecting a race.

Next, you'll choose a Class. You can select from pre-defined classes like Knight, Assassin, or Mage, or create a custom class. Custom classes allow you to pick your seven Major Skills, which level up faster and determine when your character gains a level. Your Major Skills should al with your chosen combat style (e.g., Blade, Heavy Armor, Block for a warrior; Destruction, Alteration, Restoration for a mage). Finally, select a Births, which grants a powerful passive ability or a once-per-day power. The Atronach, for instance, grants a massive Magicka boost but prevents natural Magicka regeneration, requiring careful resource management. These choices are permanent, so choose wisely!
