Bestiary

Learn about Oblivion's diverse creatures, from wildlife to Daedra like Dremora and Daedroth, and their specific resistances and weaknesses.

Bestiary

The world of Oblivion is populated by a vast array of creatures, from the mundane wildlife of Cyrodiil to the terrifying denizens of Oblivion itself. A comprehensive bestiary is an invaluable tool for any adventurer, providing insights into enemy strengths, weaknesses, and combat behaviors. Knowing your enemy is half the battle.

Within the provinces of Tamriel, you'll encounter natural fauna such as wolves, bears, and mountain lions, which can be dangerous in numbers. More formidable beasts include trolls, ogres, and giants, often found in wilder regions. These creatures typically rely on physical prowess and can be overcome with well-timed attacks and defensive maneuvers.

The planes of Oblivion are a different story, teeming with Daedric creatures. The most common are the Dremora, who wield several weapons and spells. Other Daedra include the small, fiery Scamps, the reptilian Clannfear, the hulking Daedroth, and the imposing Xivilai. These beings often possess magical abilities and resistances that make them challenging foes.

The bestiary includes:

  • Mammals: Wolves, Bears, Mountain Lions.
  • Beasts: Trolls, Ogres, Giants, Minotaurs.
  • Undead: Skeletons, Zombies, Ghouls, Vampires.
  • Daedra: Scamps, Clannfear, Dremora, Daedroth, Xivilai.
  • Other: Spriggans, various elemental creatures.

Each creature has specific resistances and vulnerabilities. For example, many Daedra are resistant to fire but vulnerable to shock damage. Undead creatures are often weak to blunt weapons and holy magic. Observing your enemies and noting their attack patterns will help you exploit these weaknesses.

Familiarizing yourself with the bestiary will allow you to prepare appropriately for encounters, choose the right equipment and spells, and ultimately increase your chances of survival and success in Oblivion.
