Fighter's Stronghold (Battlehorn Castle)
The Fighter's Stronghold, also known as Battlehorn Castle, is an official plug-in for Oblivion that allows players to acquire and upgrade a personal fortress. This unique experience offers a sense of accomplishment and provides a player home with numerous benefits, including storage, crafting facilities, and even a personal retinue.
To acquire Battlehorn Castle, players must first complete a series of quests that begin with a bounty notice posted in Skingrad. This notice leads to a confrontation with a bandit leader and the subsequent discovery of the dilapidated castle. Once acquired, the castle is in disrepair and requires sificant investment to restore its former glory.
The upgrade process involves purchasing various improvements from a special merchant, including:
- Castle Improvements: These range from structural repairs to aesthetic enhancements, such as adding new wings, battlements, and decorative elements.
- Armory: Allows for the display of weapons and armor, providing a visually appealing way to showcase your looted treasures.
- Training Room: Equipped with dummies and practice weapons, offering a place to hone combat skills.
- Servant's Quarters: Where you can recruit a steward and a dog, who will reside in the castle and offer various services.
- Dungeon: A place to hold captured enemies or display trophies.
The castle also comes with its own unique questline, involving defending it from various threats, such as goblin raids and other hostile encounters. Successfully defending the castle and completing its associated quests can lead to valuable rewards and further enhance its functionality.
The steward and dog are particularly useful additions. The steward can manage the castle's upkeep, sell excess loot, and even offer basic training. The dog acts as a loyal companion, assisting in combat and providing a sense of companionship. Battlehorn Castle serves as an excellent base of operations, offering a secure and customizable environment for players to store their loot, craft items, and rest between adventures.
