World of Cyrodiil

Cyrodiil, the heartland of Tamriel, offers diverse locations and opportunities for adventure in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. This section highlights key areas and faction headquarters, guiding you through important geographical points and their significance to your journey. Understanding the layout of Cyrodiil is crucial for efficient questing and exploration.

The Garden of Dareloth

The Garden of Dareloth is an unmarked location in the Waterfront District of the Imperial City. It is crucial for joining the Thieves Guild. To find it, fast travel to the Waterfront District, then head south to the set of houses. The Garden is the fenced-in area behind the Abandoned Shack.

You must arrive at the Garden around midnight to find Armand Christophe, Amusei, and Methredhel. All three NPCs must be present to trigger the next part of the Thieves Guild questline. Speak to Armand, show him the Mysterious Note (if you have it), or inquire about the Gray Fox. You may need to increase his disposition to see the option to join the Thieves Guild. This initiates the quest "May the Best Thief Win," which requires you to steal a diary from someone in the Imperial City. Returning the diary makes you a member of the guild.

Mages Guild Locations and Benefits

Joining the Mages Guild offers several advantages:

  • Alchemical Supplies: Freely obtain alchemical supplies within Guild Halls across Cyrodiil. Display cabinets may contain useful items like Skill Books.

  • Rest and Level Up: Use beds in Guild Halls to rest and level up once you have enough experience.

  • Improved Disposition: Joining the Mages Guild improves the disposition of all Mages Guild members by 20 points. This increases by another 20 points with each promotion, allowing you to maximize their disposition towards you by the time you become a Conjurer.

  • Arcane University Access: Clear all recommendation quests to gain access to the Arcane University, where you can enchant items and create custom spells.

  • Arch-Mage Benefits: Becoming an Arch-Mage grants access to the Arch-Mage's Quarters in the Arch-Mage's Tower. This includes altars for spellmaking and enchantment, an Enchanted Chest that duplicates common ingredients, and the ability to ask Mage Apprentices to follow you into combat.
