Trials
Trials in The Elder Scrolls Online are challenging 12-player PvE instanced activities designed to test the coordination, skill, and gear of even the most seasoned adventurers. They are ESO's equivalent of raids, featuring multiple boss encounters, unique mechanics, and often culminating in a final, epic showdown. Getting Started with Trials

Trial Difficulties
Each Trial offers two primary difficulty settings:
- Normal: A more forgiving experience, ideal for learning mechanics, farming specific set pieces, or introducing new players to Trials. Rewards are typically blue or purple quality.
- Veteran: The true test of a group's prowess. Veteran Trials feature increased enemy health and damage, more complex mechanics, and often introduce new mechanics not present on Normal. Rewards include gold quality Trial Sets, unique titles, and often a Perfected version of the Trial's unique weapons.
Additionally, many Veteran Trials have a Hard Mode for the final boss, activated by interacting with a specific object or performing a unique action during the fight. Hard Mode significantly increases the difficulty and rewards even greater prestige and unique items.
General Trial Strategies
While each Trial has its own unique challenges, some universal strategies apply:
- Communication is Key: Use voice chat (Discord is highly recommended) to call out mechanics, coordinate positioning, and alert teammates to danger.
- Understand Your Role: Tanks must maintain aggro, healers must keep health bars topped, and DPS must focus on damage and executing mechanics when required.
- Resource Management: Sustain your Magicka and Stamina throughout encounters. Potions, synergies (like Energy Orb), and proper rotation are vital.
- Awareness: Pay attention to your surroundings, boss tells, and ground effects. Standing in red usually means death.
- Practice: Don't get discouraged by wipes. Learn from your mistakes, adjust strategies, and keep practicing.

Aetherian Archive (Craglorn)
One of the original Trials, located in Upper Craglorn. It features three main bosses and a final encounter with the Mage. This Trial is a great starting point for new groups.
