The Housing System in The Elder Scrolls Online allows players to acquire and customize their own personal spaces, ranging from humble abodes to sprawling estates. These homes serve as a personal sanctuary, a place to display trophies, and a hub for friends and guildmates.

Acquiring a Home

Homes can be purchased with gold or crowns (the game's premium currency). They are categorized by size and location:

  • Apartments: The smallest and most affordable, typically found in major cities.
  • Small Homes: Offer more space than apartments, often with a small yard.
  • Medium Homes: A sificant step up in size, providing ample room for decoration.
  • Large Homes: These are substantial properties with multiple rooms and extensive outdoor areas.
  • Manors/Estates: The largest and most luxurious homes, offering vast spaces and numerous customization options.

Each home is located in a specific zone within Tamriel, allowing you to choose a location that suits your aesthetic preferences.

Furnishing Your Home

Once you own a home, you can enter "Edit Mode" to place furniture and decorations. There are thousands of furniture items available, categorized by type and source:

  • Basic Furniture: Purchased directly from a Housing Broker in any major city.
  • Crafted Furniture: Created by players with high crafting skill levels in various professions (e.g., Woodworking, Blacksmithing, Clothing).
  • Guild Vendor Furniture: Some furniture items are sold by guild traders, often rare or unique pieces.
  • Crown Store Furniture: Special themed furniture packs and individual items are available for purchase with crowns.
  • Achievement Furniture: Awarded for completing specific achievements within the game, such as defeating certain bosses or completing quest lines.
  • Trophy Furniture: Obtained from defeating world bosses and trial bosses, these are often large, impressive displays.

Housing Editor and Tools

The Housing Editor provides a grid-based system for placing items. You can rotate, move, and anchor furniture. Advanced players often use techniques like "collision" to place items in ways not normally possible, allowing for intricate dess and custom builds.

Visiting and Inviting

You can visit each other's homes by right-clicking on their character portrait and selecting "Visit Home." You can also set permissions for who can visit your home and who can edit it. Homes can be used as convenient travel points, allowing you to quickly port to a desired location.

Benefits of Housing

  • Personalization: Express your creativity and make a unique space that reflects your character and achievements.
  • Display: Showcase trophies, rare items, and crafted goods.
  • Crafting Stations: Some homes can be furnished with crafting stations, allowing you to craft and refine items in a private setting.
  • Bank Access: If you have a home with a bank chest, you can access your personal bank from within your house.
  • Social Hub: Invite friends and guildmates to your home for gatherings or to show off your decorating skills.
