How to Beat Alduin, the World-Eater

Defeat Alduin, the World-Eater, in his final battle in Sovngarde. Learn to use Dragonrend, Clear Skies, and coordinate with allies for victory.

Alduin is the primary antagonist of Skyrim, the World-Eater, and the firstborn of Akatosh. You face him multiple times throughout the main quest, with the final confrontation taking place in Sovngarde. He is a powerful dragon with unique abilities, including summoning meteor showers and shrouding areas in mist.

Weaknesses:

  • Dragonrend Shout: Absolutely essential to force him to land.
  • Concentrated Damage: Focus all your attacks on him when he is grounded.
  • Allies: In the final battle, you have the aid of three ancient Nordic heroes.

Strategy (Final Battle in Sovngarde):

  • Clear Skies: Use the 'Clear Skies' Shout to dispel Alduin's mist, which drains your health and stamina. This is crucial for the heroes to join the fight.
  • Dragonrend Spam: Continuously use 'Dragonrend' to keep Alduin grounded. The ancient heroes will also use it.
  • Unleash Everything: When Alduin is grounded, use your most powerful weapons, spells, and Shouts. 'Elemental Fury' (if melee), 'Slow Time', and high-damage destruction spells are highly effective.
  • Focus Fire: Work with the three heroes to concentrate all damage on Alduin.
  • Healing: Bring plenty of healing potions and be prepared to use them frequently.

Rewards:

The satisfaction of saving Skyrim, a large amount of Dragon Bones and Scales, and a Dragon Soul. No unique item drops, as his defeat is the ultimate reward.
