Dismay Dragon Shout
The Dismay Dragon Shout is a powerful tool for crowd control, forcing enemies to flee in terror. This shout is particularly useful when facing overwhelming odds or when you need to create an opening to escape or reposition. Learning and mastering Dismay can sificantly alter the flow of combat, turning a potentially losing battle into a manageable encounter. Its effectiveness lies in its ability to neutralize multiple threats simultaneously, allowing you to focus on remaining foes or to make a tactical retreat.
The Dismay shout has three words of power:
- Rii (Fear)
- Fed (Flee)
- Gra (Greatly)
When fully learned, the shout causes all targets in a wide area to flee from you for 30 seconds. The first word, Rii, causes a single target to flee for 8 seconds. The second word, Fed, extends this to 15 seconds and affects a larger area. The full shout, Gra, causes all targets in a very large area to flee for 30 seconds.
To acquire the words of Dismay, you must visit specific Dragon Wall locations:
- Rii (Fear): This word can be found in Lost Valley Redoubt. This is a Forsworn stronghold located in the mountainous region west of Karthwasten. Be prepared for a challenging fight against numerous Forsworn warriors and hagravens.
- Fed (Flee): This word is located within Gloomreach. Gloomreach is a Nordic ruin situated to the northwest of Markarth. This dungeon is inhabited by Falmer and Chaurus, so bring appropriate gear and potions.
- Gra (Greatly): The final word is found in Gallows Rock. This is a bandit-infested fort located east of Dawnstar. The bandits here are well-armed, and you may encounter a bandit leader who serves as a mini-boss.
Once you have learned all three words, you will need Dragon Souls to unlock the full power of the shout. Each word requires one Dragon Soul to activate. The effectiveness of Dismay scales with the number of words unlocked, making it a valuable shout to invest in for any Dragonborn.
