Potions & Poisons

Understand Skyrim potions and poisons for healing, buffing skills, and inflicting damage or debuffs on enemies through Alchemy.

Potions and poisons, crafted through the Alchemy skill, are invaluable consumables that can turn the tide of battle or aid in various situations. Potions provide beneficial effects, while poisons inflict negative effects on enemies.

Common Potion Types:

  • Healing Potions: Restore Health. Essential for survival.
  • Magicka Potions: Restore Magicka. Crucial for mages.
  • Stamina Potions: Restore Stamina. Important for warriors and sprinters.
  • Fortify Potions: Temporarily boost skills (e.g., Fortify One-Handed, Fortify Sneak).
  • Resist Potions: Temporarily increase resistance to elements (fire, frost, shock) or magic.
  • Invisibility Potions: Makes you invisible for a short duration, excellent for stealth.

Common Poison Types:

  • Damage Health Poisons: Directly damage enemy health.
  • Lingering Damage Health Poisons: Damage health over time.
  • Paralysis Poisons: Paralyze enemies, rendering them helpless.
  • Damage Stamina/Magicka Poisons: Drain enemy resources.
  • Weakness to Element Poisons: Make enemies more vulnerable to specific elemental damage.

Always carry a good supply of healing and relevant buff potions. Poisons are best applied to weapons before combat or for stealth kills.
