New Weapons & Armor (Dragonborn)

The Dragonborn DLC introduces a wealth of new and exciting weapons and armor sets, adding sificant variety and power to your arsenal. These additions are often tied to the unique culture and history of Solstheim, offering distinct visual styles and powerful enchantments. Whether you're a seasoned warrior, a cunning rogue, or a powerful mage, there's something new to discover.

One of the most iconic additions is the Stalhrim gear. Stalhrim is a unique type of ice-infused wood found on Solstheim. Weapons crafted from Stalhrim deal bonus Frost damage, and armor made from it provides a sificant boost to Frost resistance and enhances Enchanting effectiveness. To craft Stalhrim gear, you'll need to complete the quest "A New Source of Stalhrim" by speaking with Baldor Iron-Shaper in Skaal Village. He will guide you to a Stalhrim deposit and teach you how to extract it. Once you have Stalhrim, you can craft Stalhrim weapons and armor at any forge, provided you have the necessary Smithing perks (like Ebony Smithing for some pieces).

Another notable addition is the Bonemold and Chitin armor sets. These are traditional armors of the Dark Elves and are commonly found on Solstheim. Bonemold armor offers good physical protection and a distinct, tribal aesthetic. Chitin armor, made from the carapaces of large insects, is lighter and provides decent protection with a unique, chitinous look. Both can be found on enemies, purchased from vendors, or crafted if you have the appropriate Smithing perks.

For mages, the Dragonborn DLC introduces new robes and staves. Look out for enchanted robes that offer increased magicka regeneration, reduced spell costs, or enhanced elemental damage. Solstheim also features unique staves with powerful effects, often found in ancient Nordic ruins or wielded by powerful mages.

Unique Weapons:

  • Nordic Weapons: While not entirely new, the Dragonborn DLC expands the availability of Nordic weapons, which have a distinct, ancient Nordic aesthetic and can be improved with the Ebony Smithing perk.
  • Miraak's Sword: This unique one-handed sword is obtained from the final boss of the Dragonborn main quest. It deals bonus damage to Dragons and absorbs Magicka.
  • Champion's Cudgel: A powerful two-handed mace found during the quest "The Chief of Thieves."
  • Bloodskal Blade: A unique two-handed sword that, when swung, releases a wave of energy that can damage enemies through obstacles. It's found in the Bloodskal Barrow.

Unique Armor Sets:

  • Miraak's Robes: Worn by Miraak, these robes offer sificant boosts to Magicka, Stamina, and Health, along with powerful enchantments.
  • Ahzidal's Armor: A set of powerful, enchanted Nordic armor pieces scattered throughout Solstheim. Each piece offers unique enchantments, and wearing multiple pieces can grant additional bonuses.
  • White Phial: While not armor, the White Phial is a unique item that can be obtained and refilled, offering constant regeneration of Health, Magicka, and Stamina.

To acquire these new items, focus on completing the Dragonborn main questline, exploring the dungeons and ruins of Solstheim, and engaging with the local inhabitants. Many of these powerful items are rewards for completing specific quests or defeating challenging enemies. Remember to check vendors in Solstheim, as they often stock these new items.
