Skyrim's character progression is deeply tied to its extensive skill system. As you perform actions related to a particular skill, that skill levels up, granting you experience points. Reaching certain level milestones allows you to increase your overall character level, which in turn grants you a perk point to invest in a skill's unique perk tree.

Mastering skills is essential for survival and for developing your character into the Dragonborn you envision.
