With the Dragonstone delivered, Farengar will ask you to accompany Irileth, the Jarl's housecarl, to investigate a dragon attack near the Western Watchtower. This quest marks your first encounter with a living dragon and the revelation of your Dragonborn abilities. Be prepared for a challenging fight.
Objectives:
- Meet Irileth outside Whiterun.
- Go to the Western Watchtower.
- Kill the dragon.
- Absorb the dragon's soul.
- Use your first Shout.
- Report back to Jarl Balgruuf.
Strategy:
Meet Irileth and the Whiterun Guards at the Western Watchtower. The dragon, Mirmulnir, will soon appear. Dragons are powerful foes. Use ranged attacks (bows, spells) when it's flying, and switch to melee when it lands. Utilize cover to avoid its breath attacks. Irileth and the guards will help, but you'll need to contribute significantly. Once Mirmulnir is defeated, approach its corpse to absorb its soul. This will unlock your first Dragon Shout: Unrelenting Force. Use it on the target marker provided. Return to Jarl Balgruuf, who will declare you Thane of Whiterun and grant you Lydia as your housecarl.
