Weapons are your primary means of dealing damage in Skyrim. They come in various types, each with different damage, speed, and reach characteristics. Understanding weapon types and their associated skills is crucial for effective combat.
Weapon Types:
- One-Handed: Swords, Axes, Maces, Daggers. Can be dual-wielded or paired with a shield/spell.
- Two-Handed: Greatswords, Battleaxes, Warhammers. Slower but deal high damage per hit.
- Bows: Long-range weapons, ideal for stealth and kiting.
- Crossbows (Dawnguard DLC): Slower than bows but deal more damage and ignore a percentage of armor.
Material Tiers (from weakest to strongest):
Iron, Steel, Dwarven, Elven, Orcish, Glass, Ebony, Daedric, Dragonbone (Dawnguard DLC).
Unique Weapons:
- Dragonbane: A one-handed sword found in Sky Haven Temple, deals extra damage to dragons.
- Dawnbreaker: A one-handed sword obtained from Meridia's Daedric quest, deals fire damage and has a chance to explode undead.
- Volendrung: A two-handed hammer obtained from Malacath's Daedric quest, absorbs stamina.
