Ravio's Shop, located in Link's house, is the primary source for most of your essential adventure gear. Early in the game, Ravio offers items for rent at a low cost. This allows you to tackle dungeons in a non-linear fashion, as you can rent the necessary item for a specific dungeon without having to find it within. However, if you faint while renting an item, it will be returned to Ravio, and you'll have to rent it again.
After you've rented an item for a while, Ravio will eventually offer to sell it to you permanently for a higher price. Purchasing items is highly recommended, as they will no longer be lost upon fainting. Once an item is purchased, you can then upgrade it by finding Baby Maiamais and returning them to Mother Maiamai. The items available include the Bow, Bombs, Hookshot, Hammer, Lamp, Boomerang, Sand Rod, and Tornado Rod. Each has unique applications in combat and puzzle-solving, making strategic rental and purchase decisions crucial.
