Welcome to Lorule
Congratulations, hero! You've successfully merged into the parallel dimension of Lorule, a land that mirrors Hyrule but with a distinctly darker, more dilapidated aesthetic. Your primary objective here is to rescue the remaining Sages and ultimately confront Yuga and Princess Hilda. This section will guide you through your initial steps in this new, perilous world.
Initial Exploration and Objectives
Upon arriving in Lorule, you'll find yourself in the equivalent of Hyrule's Sanctuary, though it's far from a place of refuge. Your immediate goal is to navigate this unfamiliar territory and locate the first of the imprisoned Sages.
- Exiting the Sanctuary: Head south from your arrival point. You'll quickly notice the stark differences in Lorule's landscape.
- The Ruined Castle: Just outside the Sanctuary, you'll see Lorule Castle, a crumbling, foreboding structure. For now, it's inaccessible, but remember its location.
- Kakariko Village (Lorule Equivalent): Travel west from the castle ruins. You'll soon reach the Lorule version of Kakariko Village, which is now a desolate encampment.
- Obtaining the Hint Glasses: In the Lorule Kakariko Village, seek out a character named Gramps. He's usually found near the center of the village, lamenting the state of affairs. Speak with him, and he will provide you with the Hint Glasses. These are invaluable for finding Hint Ghosts, who offer cryptic but useful advice for a small Rupee fee.
Preparing for the First Dungeon
Before diving into your first Lorule dungeon, it's wise to stock up on supplies and familiarize yourself with the area. Lorule's enemies are generally tougher than Hyrule's, so preparation is key.
- Rupoor House: East of Lorule Castle, you'll find a house that looks suspiciously like the Fortune Teller's. Inside is a character who will offer to take your Rupees in exchange for a "blessing." This is actually the Rupoor House, and it will *take* your Rupees. Avoid it unless you're feeling particularly mischievous or need to shed some cash for a challenge.
- Maiamai Hunting: Keep an eye out for Mother Maiamai's lost children. There are 100 of them scattered across both Hyrule and Lorule. Collecting them and returning them to Mother Maiamai (located in a cave near your house in Hyrule) allows her to upgrade your rented items. Prioritize upgrading your most frequently used items, such as the Bow or Boomerang.
- The Vacant House (Your Lorule Home): Head to the Lorule equivalent of your house, located in the southwest of the main Lorule map. It's boarded up and empty, but it serves as a good landmark.
The Desert Palace (Lorule)
Your first major destination in Lorule will likely be the Lorule Desert Palace, which houses one of the Sages. This dungeon is located in the southwest region of Lorule, mirroring the location of the Desert Palace in Hyrule.
- Reaching the Desert Palace:
- From the Lorule Kakariko Village, head south and then west.
- You'll encounter a large desert area. Navigate through the quicksand and various desert enemies.
- Look for a large, crumbling structure in the distance. This is your destination.
- Required Items: While you can rent almost any item from Ravio's Shop, the Sand Rod is absolutely essential for traversing the Desert Palace. If you haven't already, rent it before attempting this dungeon. The Hookshot can also be very useful for crossing gaps and reaching otherwise inaccessible areas.
- Key Strategies:
- Utilize the Sand Rod to create pathways over quicksand and to raise pillars for platforming.
- Be mindful of the Gibdos and other mummified enemies; they are slow but can deal significant damage.
- The dungeon features several puzzles involving light and shadows. Pay close attention to the environment.
With these initial steps, you'll be well on your way to navigating the treacherous lands of Lorule and continuing your quest to save both worlds!
