Sub-Quests by Region

Beyond the main questline and the Shrines of Wisdom, Hyrule is teeming with fascinating characters and hidden challenges. These sub-quests, often called Side Quests or Shrine Quests, offer valuable rewards, expand the lore, and provide unique gameplay experiences. This section details key sub-quests, organized by the regions where they are initiated, providing actionable steps to guide you through them.

Central Hyrule

Hateno Village

  • Hylian Homeowner:
    • Initiation: Speak to Bolson and Karson outside the dilapidated house near the Hateno Village entrance.
    • Objective: Purchase and furnish Link's house.
    • Walkthrough:
      1. Approach the house and talk to Bolson. He'll offer to sell it for 3,000 Rupees and 30 bundles of wood.
      2. Gather 30 bundles of wood. The easiest way is to chop down trees in the surrounding areas (e.g., East Necluda) using an axe or bombs.
      3. Return to Bolson and pay the price. You now own the house!
      4. Bolson will then offer to furnish the house for 100 Rupees per item. There are 10 items in total (weapons display, bow display, shield display, bed, lights, etc.). You don't need to buy them all at once.
      5. Reward: Link's personal home, a free bed, and weapon/bow/shield displays.
  • Robbie's Research (Shrine Quest):
    • Initiation: After completing the "Locked Mementos" main quest and speaking with Purah in Hateno Ancient Tech Lab, she will direct you to Robbie in Akkala. This quest is technically initiated in Akkala but leads back to Hateno.
    • Objective: Help Robbie activate the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab's furnace.
    • Walkthrough:
      1. Travel to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab in Akkala Highlands.
      2. Speak with Robbie. He'll ask you to light the furnace outside the lab using blue flame from the Ancient Furnace near the East Akkala Stable.
      3. Carefully carry a blue flame from the Ancient Furnace to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. You can use a torch, an Ancient Arrow (shoot a wooden arrow through the flame), or a wooden weapon. Be mindful of rain, which extinguishes the flame.
      4. Light the furnace at the lab.
      5. Reward: Access to the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab's Ancient Armor and Ancient Weaponry shop, and the ability to upgrade your Sheikah Slate Runes.

Dueling Peaks Region

Kakariko Village

  • Flown the Coop:
    • Initiation: Speak to Cado, the guard standing near the entrance to Kakariko Village, during the daytime.
    • Objective: Find all seven missing Cuccos and return them to the coop.
    • Walkthrough:
      1. Cado will tell you that seven Cuccos have escaped.
      2. Locate the seven Cuccos scattered around Kakariko Village. They are often found in elevated positions or unusual spots.
        • One is on the roof of the general store.
        • Another is near the Goddess Statue, on a ledge.
        • One is by the plum trees near the entrance.
        • One is on the roof of Impa's house (use Revali's Gale or climb a nearby structure).
        • One is near the bridge leading out of the village.
        • One is near the cooking pot by the shrine.
        • The last one is often found near the path leading to the Great Fairy Fountain.
      3. Pick up each Cucco and carry it back to the coop behind Cado's house. You can throw them over fences if needed.
      4. Once all seven are returned, speak to Cado for your reward.
      5. Reward: A Silver Rupee (100 Rupees).
  • By Firefly's Light:
    • Initiation: Speak to Lasli in her house (the one with the glowing lanterns) in Kakariko Village at night.
    • Objective: Bring five Sunset Fireflies to Lasli.
    • Walkthrough:
      1. Wait until nightfall and enter Lasli's house. She'll be sitting sadly.
      2. She'll ask for five Sunset Fireflies to brighten her home.
      3. Sunset Fireflies can be found in abundance around Kakariko Village at night, particularly in the forested areas and near the path to the Great Fairy Fountain. Sneak up on them to catch them.
      4. Return to Lasli with five Sunset Fireflies and release them in her house.
      5. Reward: A Purple Rupee (50 Rupees).

Akkala Highlands

Tarrey Town

This entire town is built through a series of sub-quests, starting with "From the Ground Up."

  • From the Ground Up:
    • Initiation: After completing "Hylian Homeowner" in Hateno Village, speak to Hudson, who will have moved to the construction site in Akkala, east of Tarrey Town.
    • Objective: Help Hudson build Tarrey Town by providing materials and recruiting residents.
    • Walkthrough: This is a multi-stage quest with several sub-objectives:
      1. Stage 1: Wood & Goron: Hudson needs 10 bundles of wood. Provide them. He'll then ask you to find a strong Goron. Travel to the Southern Mine (Eldin Region) and speak to Greyson. He'll move to Tarrey Town.
      2. Stage 2: Wood & Gerudo: Hudson needs another 20 bundles of wood. Provide them. He'll then ask you to find a tailor. Travel to the Kara Kara Bazaar (Gerudo Desert) and speak to Rhondson. She'll move to Tarrey Town.
      3. Stage 3: Wood & Rito: Hudson needs 30 bundles of wood. Provide them. He'll then ask you to find a Rito merchant. Travel to Rito Village (Tabantha Frontier) and speak to Fyson. He'll move to Tarrey Town.
      4. Stage 4: Wood & Zora: Hudson needs 50 bundles of wood. Provide them. He'll then ask you to find a Zora priest. Travel to Zora's Domain (Lanayru Wetlands) and speak to Kapson. He'll move to Tarrey Town.
      5. Stage 5: Wedding & Completion: Hudson will announce his wedding to Rhondson. Attend the ceremony in Tarrey Town.
    • Reward: Access to Tarrey Town, which includes an inn, a general store, a clothing shop, and a unique weapon shop (Granté's shop, which sells rare armor pieces you've previously found). You also get 3 Diamonds after the wedding.
