Middle Trials

The Middle Trials represent the second phase of the Trial of the Sword DLC, escalating the difficulty from the Beginning Trials. Link must now face more formidable enemies, navigate more complex environments, and manage his resources even more carefully to progress through these challenging floors and earn greater rewards.

Having conquered the initial challenges, the Middle Trials demand a higher level of combat proficiency and strategic thinking. You'll encounter tougher foes, including Moblins, Lizalfos, and elemental Wizzrobes, requiring you to utilize every tool at your disposal to survive and advance.

Trial Structure and Progression

The Middle Trials consist of 16 floors, building upon the survival mechanics introduced in the Beginning Trials. Link still enters with no equipment and must scavenge for weapons, shields, arrows, and food. The goal is to clear all floors to unlock the Final Trials.

Key Challenges and Enemy Types

  • Increased Enemy Variety: Expect to face stronger variants of common enemies, as well as more dangerous foes like Lizalfos, Moblins, and various Wizzrobes.
  • Elemental Hazards: Floors with elemental Wizzrobes (Fire, Ice, Electric) require careful positioning and quick reactions to avoid status effects and heavy damage.
  • Guardian Encounters: You will likely encounter Guardian Stalkers and Turrets, demanding precise parries or the use of Ancient Arrows.
  • Resource Scarcity: Food and weapon durability remain critical concerns. Efficient cooking and careful weapon usage are paramount.
  • Environmental Puzzles: Some floors may incorporate minor environmental elements that require strategic use of runes or careful movement.

Strategies for Success

  • Master Combat Fundamentals: Perfect dodges, parries, and headshots are essential for conserving weapon durability and dealing with groups of enemies.
  • Prioritize Threats: Always identify and eliminate the most dangerous enemies first, such as Wizzrobes or archers, to reduce incoming damage.
  • Utilize Elemental Advantages: Use fire against ice enemies, ice against fire enemies, and shock against metal-armored foes.
  • Conserve Arrows: Arrows are limited. Use them strategically for headshots, hitting weak points, or dealing with enemies that are difficult to approach.
  • Cook for Buffs: Beyond health restoration, cook meals that provide attack up or defense up buffs to gain an edge in combat.
  • Explore Every Nook: Thoroughly search each floor for hidden weapons, shields, and food items. Break all crates and barrels.
