The Echo system is the central mechanic of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. With the Tri Rod, Zelda can create duplicates, or 'Echoes,' of almost anything she encounters. This includes environmental objects like blocks, beds, and rocks, as well as enemies. Creating an Echo of an enemy allows you to summon it to fight alongside you or to use its unique abilities to solve puzzles. For instance, a Fire Keese Echo might be used to light torches, while a Stone Talus Echo could break down barriers.
