Enemy Database

Welcome to the comprehensive Enemy Database for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask! This section provides detailed strategies, weaknesses, and item drops for every foe you'll encounter across Termina. Mastering these encounters is crucial for Link's quest to save the world from the falling moon.

Deku Scrubs

These mischievous plant-like creatures are common throughout Termina, especially in the Southern Swamp and Woodfall regions. They typically pop out of the ground to spit Deku Nuts at Link.

  • Locations: Southern Swamp, Woodfall, Clock Town (briefly during the prologue).
  • Attacks: Spit Deku Nuts.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Sword: A well-timed sword slash as they emerge is effective.
    • Deku Link: As Deku Link, you can reflect their Deku Nuts back at them with your own spit attack (B Button). This will stun them, allowing you to approach and perform a spin attack or a Deku Nut drop.
    • Bombs: A strategically placed Bomb can defeat them instantly if they are above ground.
  • Strategy:
    1. Approach cautiously. Deku Scrubs will hide if you get too close while they are above ground.
    2. When they pop up to attack, either quickly slash with your sword or, as Deku Link, prepare to reflect their projectile.
    3. After stunning them, close the distance for a finishing blow.
  • Item Drops: Deku Nuts, Deku Sticks, Rupees (various denominations).

Garo

Mysterious, cloaked ninjas found exclusively in Ikana Canyon. Garo are agile and wield twin swords, posing a significant threat if not approached correctly. They are bound by a code of honor.

  • Locations: Ikana Canyon, Stone Tower Temple.
  • Attacks: Rapid dual-sword slashes, spinning attacks.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Bombs/Bombchus: The most effective way to defeat a Garo. After being hit by a Bomb, they will perform a ritualistic self-destruct, leaving behind a valuable item.
    • Sword (risky): Direct sword combat is possible but challenging due to their speed and aggressive attacks. Use shield defense and counter-attacks.
  • Strategy:
    1. Maintain distance initially. Garo will often charge at Link.
    2. When they pause or after an attack flurry, quickly toss a Bomb or deploy a Bombchu in their path.
    3. Upon detonation, the Garo will be defeated.
    4. Alternatively, if engaging with your sword, use Z-targeting and strafing to avoid their attacks, then counter-attack when an opening appears.
  • Item Drops: Garo's Mask (from the Garo Master in the Stone Tower Temple), Rupees (often higher denominations).

Gibdos

Mummified creatures that roam the desolate Ikana Canyon. Gibdos are slow but incredibly resilient, and their touch can curse Link, preventing him from using his sword.

  • Locations: Ikana Canyon, Beneath the Well, Stone Tower Temple.
  • Attacks: Slow, shambling attacks that inflict a curse.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Fire Arrows: The most efficient method. One Fire Arrow will instantly burn away their bandages, transforming them into a standard Redead.
    • Light Arrows: Instantly defeats them, but these are acquired much later in the game.
    • Bombs: Can damage them, but often requires multiple hits.
  • Strategy:
    1. Prioritize keeping your distance to avoid their curse.
    2. Equip your Bow and Fire Arrows. Aim for their body and fire.
    3. Once transformed into a Redead, they become vulnerable to sword attacks or can be stunned with the Song of Healing or the Song of Storms.
    4. If you are cursed, play the Song of Healing to remove the effect.
  • Item Drops: Rupees, sometimes Magic Jars.

Like Likes

These gelatinous, blob-like enemies are infamous for their ability to swallow Link whole and steal his shield or even his tunic. They are often found in watery or dungeon environments.

  • Locations: Great Bay Temple, Stone Tower Temple, Snowhead Temple.
  • Attacks: Engulfs Link, stealing his shield or tunic.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Sword: Repeated sword slashes are effective.
    • Bombs: Can stun and damage them.
    • Fire Arrows: Deals significant damage.
  • Strategy:
    1. Approach with caution. If a Like Like grabs you, mash buttons to escape quickly.
    2. If your Hero's Shield or Mirror Shield is stolen, defeat the Like Like to retrieve it. If a tunic (Zora or Goron) is stolen, it will be returned upon defeating the enemy.
    3. Use a series of quick sword combos. The spin attack can be particularly useful.
    4. Alternatively, a well-aimed Fire Arrow can dispatch them efficiently.
  • Item Drops: Rupees, sometimes a stolen shield or tunic (if applicable).

Wallmasters

These disembodied hands drop from the ceiling, attempting to grab Link and return him to the beginning of the dungeon or a previous area. They are more of an environmental hazard than a direct combat challenge.

  • Locations: Woodfall Temple, Snowhead Temple, Great Bay Temple, Stone Tower Temple.
  • Attacks: Grabs Link, returning him to the dungeon entrance.
  • Weaknesses:
    • Sword: A few direct sword hits will defeat them.
    • Arrows: Can be used to hit them from a distance.
  • Strategy:
    1. Listen for the distinctive shadow and sound cue. When you hear it, immediately roll or run out of the shadow's path.
    2. Once they land, they are vulnerable for a short period. Quickly attack with your Sword.
    3. If you are grabbed, you will be transported back. This can be frustrating, so prioritize evasion.
  • Item Drops: Rupees.
