Clock Town Activities & Mini-Games
Clock Town is the bustling heart of Termina, a vibrant hub of activity even under the looming threat of the falling moon. Beyond its role as a central quest hub, it offers a plethora of side quests, mini-games, and opportunities to earn Rupees, Masks, and essential items. Mastering these activities is key to Link's success and to experiencing the full depth of Majora's Mask.
North Clock Town
- Deku Scrub Playground (Day 1, 2, 3)
- Location: North Clock Town, accessible by transforming into Deku Link.
- Objective: Navigate a series of Deku Flower platforms to reach the goal within a time limit. The layout changes each day.
- Strategy: Practice makes perfect. Learn the optimal flight paths and use the Deku Flowers efficiently. The first day's challenge is the easiest.
- Rewards:
- Day 1: 10 Rupees (first time), 10 Rupees (subsequent times)
- Day 2: 20 Rupees (first time), 20 Rupees (subsequent times)
- Day 3: 50 Rupees (first time), 50 Rupees (subsequent times)
- Pitfall: Falling off or running out of time means starting over.
- Postman's Letter Delivery (Day 3, 3 PM - 12 AM)
- Location: Post Office in West Clock Town, then Mayor Dotour's Office in East Clock Town.
- Objective: As Link, intercept the Postman as he leaves the Post Office at 3 PM on Day 3. Give him Kafei's Letter to Mama. Follow him to the Latte Milk Bar.
- Strategy: This is part of the Anju and Kafei questline. You must have the Postman's Hat and Kafei's Letter to Mama.
- Reward: Postman's Hat (after completing the entire Anju & Kafei questline).
East Clock Town
- Honey & Darling's Shop (Bombchu Bowling)
- Location: East Clock Town, near the entrance to the Stock Pot Inn.
- Objective: Roll Bombchus down a lane to hit targets. The targets move and require precise timing and aim.
- Strategy: Observe the target patterns. Some targets require a delayed release or a specific angle. The "perfect" score involves hitting all targets with minimal Bombchus.
- Rewards:
- First Time (any day): Bomb Bag (if you don't have the Big Bomb Bag yet)
- Subsequent Wins: 50 Rupees or a Bombchu.
- Cost: 10 Rupees per attempt.
- Shooting Gallery (East Clock Town)
- Location: East Clock Town, on the upper level.
- Objective: Shoot Octoroks and Guays within a time limit using your Bow.
- Strategy: Aim for headshots for instant kills. Prioritize the Guays as they fly around. Keep your focus and don't rush your shots.
- Rewards:
- Score 40+ (first time): Quiver (increases arrow capacity to 40)
- Score 50 (perfect score, subsequent times): 50 Rupees
- Cost: 20 Rupees per attempt.
- Treasure Chest Shop (Day 1, 2, 3)
- Location: East Clock Town, near the entrance to South Clock Town.
- Objective: Pay a fee to play a game of chance where you open a series of treasure chests. The chests are arranged in a maze-like pattern, and you must choose the correct path to reach the final chest.
- Strategy: The path to the prize changes each day. The trick is to use the Lens of Truth to see through the walls and identify the correct path.
- Rewards:
- As Deku Link: Piece of Heart (first time)
- As Human Link: 50 Rupees (first time), 50 Rupees (subsequent times)
- Cost: 10 Rupees (as Deku Link), 30 Rupees (as Human Link).
- Pitfall: Without the Lens of Truth, this is purely luck-based and can be a Rupee sink.
West Clock Town
- Swordsman's School (Day 1, 2, 3)
- Location: West Clock Town, near the entrance to North Clock Town.
- Objective: Practice your sword techniques against a dummy. The goal is to hit the dummy 100 times without taking damage.
- Strategy: Use a combination of horizontal and vertical slashes. The spin attack can be useful for hitting multiple times quickly. Focus on precision and timing.
- Rewards:
- Score 30+ (first time): 10 Rupees
- Score 100 (perfect score, first time): Piece of Heart
- Subsequent perfect scores: 50 Rupees
- Cost: 10 Rupees per attempt.
- Lottery Shop (Day 1, 2, 3)
- Location: West Clock Town, next to the Curiosity Shop.
- Objective: Purchase a lottery ticket for 10 Rupees. If your three-digit number matches the winning number announced at 11 PM each night, you win.
- Strategy: This is purely luck-based. There's no way to influence the outcome. You can save before buying a ticket and reset if you don't win, but it's generally not an efficient way to earn Rupees.
- Reward: 50 Rupees.
- Pitfall: Don't rely on this for significant Rupee gains.
- Curiosity Shop (Night 1, 2, 3)
- Location: West Clock Town. Open from 10 PM to 6 AM.
- Objective: Purchase rare and sometimes essential items. The inventory changes depending on the day and what events have transpired.
- Key Items:
- Day 1: All-Night Mask (500 Rupees, only if you recovered the stolen Bomb Bag from Sakon earlier in the day)
- Day 2: Big Bomb Bag (200 Rupees, only if you didn't get it from Bombchu Bowling)
- Day 3: Stone Mask (50 Rupees, after helping the invisible soldier in Ikana Canyon)
- Strategy: Always check the Curiosity Shop at night, especially if you're looking for specific masks or upgrades.
- Pitfall: Some items are only available under specific conditions or on certain nights. Missing an opportunity might require resetting the cycle.
South Clock Town
- Bank (Day 1, 2, 3)
- Location: South Clock Town, next to the Owl Statue.
- Objective: Deposit Rupees to keep them safe across time cycles.
- Strategy: Always deposit your Rupees before playing the Song of Time. This is the only way to retain your money.
- Rewards:
- Depositing 200 Rupees: Adult Wallet (capacity 200)
- Depositing 5000 Rupees: Giant Wallet (capacity 5000)
- Depositing 20000 Rupees: Piece of Heart
- Pitfall: Forgetting to deposit Rupees before resetting the cycle means losing all your unbanked money.
- Clock Tower Rooftop (Night 3, 12 AM)
- Location: Accessible via the ladder in South Clock Town after the final hours of Day 3 begin.
- Objective: Confront Skull Kid and play the Oath to Order. This is the final confrontation before the moon crashes.
- Strategy: You must have collected all four Giant's Masks from the temples.
- Reward: Progress the main story.
Laundry Pool
- Guru-Guru's Performance (Night 1, 2, 3)
- Location: Laundry Pool, inside the building.
- Objective: Listen to Guru-Guru play his accordion.
- Strategy: Speak to him as Link.
- Reward: Bremen Mask (after listening to his story).
- Stray Fairy (Day 1, 2, 3)
- Location: Laundry Pool.
- Objective: Find the stray fairy floating around.
- Strategy: Catch it with your Fairy Bottle.
- Reward: A single stray fairy, which can be taken to the Great Fairy Fountain in North Clock Town for a magic meter upgrade.
